you'd think that name calling stops when you leave childhood behind.
Today I was having a heated discussion with my BIL. To make a long story short - he asked where my son was. And I asked him why he wanted to know. You see he(BIL) just recently got married and family ties are very, very, very important to his wife and her family, so after more then 13 years of ignoring my son and never acknowledging him (no cards, no phone calls, no nothing) he wants to pretend he is this wonderful, concerned uncle. I've let it slide a few times because SIL is a total sweetheart but, I told DH the next time BIL askes - I was getting to the bottom of it.
Well after going back and forth - BIL had no real excuse for his behavior....and he didn't like me having an answer to every B.S. story he came up with - in the end he says "he no longer hates his brother (that'd be DH) because he(DH) is married to the fattest, ugliest woman in norway" (that'd be directed at me and the name calling I am refering to.)
Then he signed off the pc. Well knowing BIL like I do - I went on answering e mail and popping around the internet....then BIL comes back and I sent him an "audibles" of a fat lady laughing and saying "(laughing) Please stop....(more laughing) I'm dying over here"
then I typed " Tsk tsk you think your opinion of me matters" then I sent the laughing lady again and ended it.
I could have handled it two ways, I could have gotten upset and believed the cruel things BIL said. Or I could do what I am proud I did - let BIL know his opinion doesn't matter.
Its amazing, not long ago I would have believed those cruel words and taken them to heart.
