Re: 5 months??
Its so difficult to answer this question because we are all so different. Atkins isn't a quick weight loss diet, some folks do amazingly well, losing up to 10 % of their goal in the first two weeks. Some lose a little slower.
The only thing that we can promise you is that you will be healthier and thinner and more full of energy in 5 months if you read the book and know and understand how the diet works, if you include exercise and water in your plan and if you take your supplements.
Welcome aboard, glad you found us.

Welcome to the board and congrats!!! I know exactly how you feel. I came here in May of last year and wanted to be down by 100 pounds by my wedding (which is next week
). In the beginning I lost an average of 10 pounds per month (I worked out really hard and didn't cheat for 9 months straight). Once I got around 190 it started to slow down considerably and I kind of screwed up a lot since then
Anyway, that was my experience, I hope that answer might be of some help to you. GOODLUCK and have fun with the planning!!!
Oh here are some specific things I did when I was doing well..
*Stuck with "Extended induction" the entire time, ate only atkins friendly foods.
*Didn't eat ANY of the low-carb products at all, stay away from those things they make you hungrier!! Try to eat as close to "natural" and "unprocessed" as possible.
*Drank water, water, and water.
*Had nothing with aspartame in it
*Exercised as much as possible. Usually 5 times a week. At first I started on treadmill at 2.0 mph for 20 minutes,.. eventually got up to 3.5 mph for 50 minutes (start slowly but keep it a little challenging!). Tried to do a variety of workout activities.. somedays treadmill, somedays aerobic videos..
*Stopped eating at 7:00 pm every night, if I wanted to eat more, I'd busy my mind by thinking about what id' have for breakfast
It might sound extreme, but I didn't find it to be that difficult actually. (I screwed up because I made some stupid mistakes - it had nothing to do with the "diet" failing). Anyway hope that helps. PM if you have any questions!

Re: 5 months??
I have had the exact same experience as Mary Chan. I lost 50 pounds in 5 months. Very slow since then, but then I have been screwing up lately. You can definately lose weight, as to how much, you will find out. Good luck!Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!
