  • I figured out my biggest problem

I have figured out my biggest problem. I have been too focused on what I cannot eat, which has been leading me to eat exactly that. I need to focus on what I can eat.

My biggest issue is breakfast, and english muffin is just so easy. I don't like eggs and if it weren't for sausages I'd starve in the morning (or cheat). But I can have anything I want, not just breakfast food. So I'm going to make some chichen salad and/or tuna salad and have some of that for breakfast in the morning. I know these tips have been provided many times before but I had forgotten them.

Lunch in my office cafeteria is also one of my weak points. But today I overcame, they have a fabulous stirfry station and today was one of my favorites, a pasta stir fry. This has been a stumbling point for me many times, but I went back to basics. I had chicken, sausage, onion, broccoli, zuchinni alfredo sans pasta. It was so basic and simple. I used to do that but I had forgotten. It almost feels like I forgot how to tie my shoes and have suddenly remembered.

When you are struggling or failing, go back to the beginning. I began to think I knew this plan so well. I got too confident. I need to go back to basics and start all over and relearn it. My current reading? Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution.

Re: I figured out my biggest problem

Congratulations on figuring out your problem! I, too, figured out my problem with diets that involved counting calories. If I was to stick to a 1200 calorie diet, and it got to be 10:00 at night, I was bound and determined to get that other 10 calories. You can't eat much for 10 calories, I'd get frustrated, and just eat anything.

Now, as long as I count my carbs, IF I'm hungry at 10:00, and want something to eat, I can have anything I want as long as it fits within the carb allotment. If it's protein or fat, it's free. Cool, huh?
    June Goals
    1. Continue with water
    2. Use bike more (3x per week would be nice).
    3. Continue with videos.
    4. Go to the YMCA for water classes.
    5. Build stamina for more walking.

    Goals for May:
    1. Water every day - at least 100 oz.
    2. Walk through Wal Mart instead of ride.
    3. Post every day.
    4. Get the exercise bike out of basement and use it!
    5. Re-read DANDR! It's been too long.

Maybe there are some ways to improve your taste for eggs.

Whats about scrambled eggs with some tomato and lettuc thrown in, maybe some chilli powder ? Eat it with some mayo.

I love eggs, but eggs can taste different depending on how they are prepared.

I find something warm pretty soothing.

Also, as long as your carbs are really low, you should indulge in some fatty meat. Like the thigh/leg combo of a chicken, or some lamb chops. That just kills any hunger after I eat those! It stops me craving!

Re: I figured out my biggest problem

I don't think I have ever looked at this as a "things I can't have" diet. Maybe at first. But after an extended induction of not cheating for a long time, it definitely changed to a "things I don't care to have anymore" diet.

I can still sample a taste or two of things that I used to eat and it honestly doesn't taste or seem the same and not enough for me to want to eat more than a small bite.

I do know my trigger foods, however, and try to avoid and manage those carefully, knowing that just a taste could be bad. But even the number of trigger foods I used to have has lowered to maybe one or two, the longer I've done this.

That stir fry sounds really good. I've also had problems with breakfast, especially once I developed gall bladder issues as my usual eggs and bacon set things off (and still do). Thus I've switched to low carb yogurt and/or meatballs with some cucumber for breakfast instead.

              Good luck!
