  • A proud moment today!

Just wanted to share a hurdle I overcame today. I'm on day 5 of induction and had a wedding to go to. I've been dreading this wedding because I was so worried I wouldn't have the will power to eat right. It was a dinner reception! I'm happy to report that I refrained from all carbs and just stuck with the meat (pulled pork - no sauce ). I didn't even think twice about grabbing a piece of cake! And...to top it off, they even had the diet coke made with splenda (which is allowed on Atkins)! Woohoo.

In the next two weeks I have a birthday party, father's day, and another wedding to make it through. I have more confidence in myself now that I can refrain from eating the sweet stuff! I'll let you know how it goes!

Hey Liz, congratulations. That is a major hurdle, but ya know, Wedding Cake is usually not that great... RIGHT???? Keep up adding these special moments to your life and before you know it you will be at goal.

          Good for you!

One thing that can help with potentially tempting events: eat before hand, or as 2big said, bring your own dish.

The longer you do Atkins right, the more you realize that you no longer want those bad carby things anymore nor are they as fulfilling as before.

WOW! Duet coke with splenda! That sounds like a fantasy world to me! In Australia, everything, literally everything has ASPARTAME! We have no choice! GRRR!!

Congrats to you for making it thorugh.

I often think that we panic too much at the though of a big celebration or a night out. But there is always meat and veggies and alternatives.

At the end of the day people don't really care about what you eat, they are too busy shuving the food in their own mouths! LOL

              congratulations liz

You are around the same weight i was when i started this woe and i know how much we loved and was addicted our carb laden foods which is why we got big in the first place.

Good for you for making good choices in what you ate and drank and not giving into the pressures of the event....the results are sure to show in your favour.

                  Re: A proud moment today!

Congratulations. Thanks for posting this. So many people think that we have to refrain from 'celebrations' because of the food. You've shown that we can go, have fun and still maintain our WOE. We can't control the activities around us, but our attitude about ourselves and our WOE are completely in our control if we plan.

Thanks for the support guys. Great advice! Dave, do you have "Slice" cola in Australia? They have started making theirs with Splenda too. It looks like you're making it just fine without it though. Congrats on the 124 lbs. lost! Gosh, congrats to all of you for losing weight. You all look GREAT!

Good for you - you should be proud of yourself! Each time we stay stong around temptation, it seems to become easier to back away the next. I agree that the sweets start to look and smell yucky - thank God!!!
