  • Question for the Tried and True

Ok folks. I used the basal metabolic figure outter thing, and it says I should be eating 2246 calories. I know from the past that means that is how many calories my body needs (uses?) just to exist. But it is unpleasant to eat that much food. I want to cut back. So here is my question. If I eat say around 1500, is this a bad thing? Should I technically lose weight faster this way? As long as I stick to the 65/30/5, would I be ok? Thanks.

Re: Question for the Tried and True

which basal formula did you use? some don't take body type into account and ifyou are a yoyo dieter and got lots of fluff and little muscle mass you will need less cals then a rock hard person your weight would.

if you know your lean body mass you can use the KatchMcArdel formula and get a more accurate for you number.

If you don't know it just eat and listen to your body when it is hungry feed it when it isn't stop you will not get to starvation mode by eatting a few days less then your true basal. If you are hungry but feel stuffed from the food you eat chose some nutritonally denser foods like avocado or olives. a fatty cut of meat over a lean one etc,

If you feel weak or shave symptoms then you know you need to eat more and should.

Thank you! That makes alot of sense. I've no idea how to find out my lean body mass, so I'm just going to do what you said and listen to my body. I don't know how, but I just feel like I'm eating too much. I appreciate the answer!
