Well, not only did I slip a little, I fell! There have been so many things this weekend, that I could not stay focased! Thursday night, we had a cookout at a friend house! Did pretty good over there, where I had 2 hamburgers (no bun), some low carb cole slaw and some fruit! I know I know, the fruit was a no no, but that I figured or justified that it was healthy still, so I allowed it! Left that party feeling good!

Then Friday, we had a pot luck at work. I tried! I really did! I had a couple pieces of lunch meat and cheese, sloppy joe (no bun), culliflower, deviled eggs and 3 chunks of fruit! Only problem with that is that the sloppy joe had sugar in it! Not knowing that when I got it, but ate it after I knew!

Saturday comes and we have a graduation party to go to! I just did not do good there at all! Had like 5 crackers with dip on them, fruit, fried chicken (2 pieces) and bbq'd smokeys! Then to go further into my carbage bag, I had a small piece of cake!

Which leads me to today! We had a baby shower.... I did ok... well no I didnt! I had my broccli salad, and the store bought one that I know has sugar. I had a few bites of pasta salad AND I had mud cake....

So now this is a new week, and I am back in my comfort zone where I will keep on task! Taking this one day at a time, small steps!

What I've learn from many of these trials, is that we don't necessarily have to go off plan.

Fruit is not a disaster, if you pick the right kind of fruit.

Please don't rationise that just because it's fruit it's healthy. The vitamins inside maybe, but other things are not.

I find I get really anxious about these outings and events, but when I get there, there is usually good choices I can make. And in the worse case scenerio, I can eaither go without food or minimalise the damage.

In the past with low fat diets, I would basically crumble at these occasions.

Tirtle- I bombed today as well.. My Grandma turns 79 tomorrow, so I took her to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.. I knew before I walked in the door that I was going to sneak a bun w/ cinnamon butter.. I still ordered an Atkinesque dinner w/ unsweet iced tea.. I didn't cheat through lack of willpower, I walked through the door knowing I was going to take on that bun.. Do I feel guilty? Nope. Tomorrow I'm going right back to my strict low carb diet as outlined by Dr. Atkins.. Throughout the past month I have nibbled on things that I knew had some sugar in them, coleslaw and BBQ sauce. I ate really small portions and did a little extra moving around to balance it all out and still lost 14 pounds. Could I have shed more? Probably.. but I'm happy at the rate the weight's coming off and I feel great. I have to tell you that I did get the sleepies after chowing down on that bun and I felt bloated. Just a reminder to myself that I don't want to consume large quanties of that crap ever again for long periods of time. Don't beat yourself up over your indulgence! We are all human

I don't know what a Texas Roadhouse is, but I would have thought it would be a low carber paradise with lot's of steak.

Ever since reading about planned cheats on Jimmy Moore's blog, I've done it a couple of times.

You need to have some guidelines like:-

        Plan the cheat in advance
        Make it only that meal.
Spread them out over many weeks, as in don't do them one after another.
Make sure it is worth it
Go on induction level the next day.

Anyways they are the kind of guidelines I have for myself.

I have found that going to some places I just don't feel it's worth the effort to cheat because of how I feel the next day.

My last two cheats, each time have produced a massive boil on my body! That is so painful for like a week!

I feel like I get cursed because of my sins! LOL

My fiancee gets really bad cravings and cranky the next day if she has a cheat meal.

The physical repocussions on me personally have killed off the desire to have any more cheats!

Wow... thank you both so much for your words! It has been so helpful! I am back up and low carbin this week! I am anticipating good things moving forward!!! That is for sure! I like what you said Dave about planned cheats! It makes it easier to get through the whole season of food gatherings! Not that I plan on over doing it to this extent EVER AGAIN!!!! LOL! Thank you again!

Those are one of the hardest situations for me to handle lately too. Make sure you take something Atkins friendly yourself, and then you know that there will be something good for you to eat.
