  • Atkins on the menu? Questions for you

I went to TGI Fridays and they have a few Atkins choices on their menu. They were not induction friendly so I had the Hot wings (necked) with celery and blue cheese.

What other restaurants have Atkins on their menu?

Also what do you order to stay on Atkins?

What are your favorite restaurant meals?

Let's do lunch - tee hee!

I love any place that has a nice big salad bar. If I know I'm going, I'll take some dressing with me, I found a great olive oil vinaigrette dressing by Wish Bone that has no carbs and is made with splenda (so it does count as 1 carb per serving because of the splenda). I'm also a beef lover, our local hotel restaurant makes a great hamburger steak and they don't put anything in it that isn't induction friendly, and I can get it with sauteed mushrooms! I don't eat at many chain restaurants being in a small town like I am. I also love to make my own taco meat and make a taco salad, no shells. You can check out the recipe for the taco meat in the recipe section, I think though I got it from a post in one of the threads here a while back! Not a restaurant, but well, I'm a food lover, LOL.

If I go to chili's or any other southwestern/mexican restaurant...I get the fajitas no tortillas.

Most any restaurant where there's steak, I get steak and steamed veggies and/or salad.

      Smothered chicken breast and vegetables.

It makes it easy, getting some sort of meat and the veggies.

One of my favorite restaurants is actually part of a truck stop. Lots of meats on the menu! I like to order an 8oz. steak and shrimp platter. I'm a regular there and they're happy to omit the regular seasonings they use for the shrimp for plain old butter. Add the salad bar, and I'm great to go!

Sadie, don't they have a steak and green beans at TGIs. They do at the ones in Melbourne Australia.

I didn't think those hot wings and clue cheese dip was induction friendly because it comes from a restaurant - carbs in hot wings sauce, and the the dip. Hidden carbs.

Cracker Barrel has the best low carb menu! Not only do they have the low carb menue, but they also tell you how many carbs are in each thing that you order, and they give you a nice amount of food, so you are satisfied!!! That is the best place as far as I know!!!!

Re: Atkins on the menu? Questions for you

I am of the crowd that it is hard not to find something Atkins friendly on the menu or that they won't substitute stuff to make existing entrees more friendly. Sometimes it takes a bit of confidence to ask constantly for how you want it, but good wait staff are usually rewarded. Another restaurant with a low carb menu is Cracker Barrel - lots of Induction Friendly items right off the menu.

I don't know about TGIF but I have ordered wings from other restaraunts that are induction friendly. Many restaraunts use Redhot for the sauce. It is legal (red peppers, vinegar, salt, and water). I make them at home all the time with Redhot.

Ruby Tuesday's used to have an Atkins menu...they even had a low-carb cheesecake on the menu. It's been over a year since I've been there so I'm not sure if they still have it.

I usually order a big Grilled Chicken Salad. yum Or at a steakhouse I'll get a steak with a side salad.

I love LongHorn's Prime Rib with Asparagus and a Ceasar Salad no croutons. But I often ask for my burgers or chicken sandwiches no bun, no sauce, mayo on the side. The worst is dealing with servers who make a deal over your wanting special attention, but hey...it all comes out in the tip! Oh, and I love Red Lobsters dinner with the small lobster tails on a skewer seperated by scallops. VERY TASTY!!!

To this day, despite being on Atkins for a while, I still carry a rather tattered Acceptable Food List. I've practically memorized it by now, but I still carry it to remind me.

I was really impressed by Smokey Bones. They have a section where you can order 1, 2, 3, 4 grilled meats, and have sides of fresh green beans and broccoli. Very tasty. I didn't order anything that required sauce, but if you did, all sauces are on the side. Very nice smoked turkey and beef brisket.
