  • can someone plaese tell me...

    if eating meat, poultry etc... has to be measured? i read the book where it says to eat "liberally, s/p" and to eat when satisfied and not stuffed, but then when i review the induction menu it says 6 o.z of meat, poultry etc... i'm confused. can someone help me out? thanks!

    You can measure it so you can know how much you ate for any food diary you might have. Other than that eat liberally is basically as much as you want. With one very important caveat, you are only supposed to eat until your hunger is satisfied. So if you cook that 6 oz chicken breast and you are satisfied only eating half then you are supposed to stop. Clean plates are definitely not a requirement of Atkins.

        thanks for the info jim. what if you eat the 6 o.z piece of meat and still want more meat? is it o:k to have more or is it best to have something else? thanks.

          If you are still hungry then eat.

          Just make sure that you're hungry. And not thirsty. Or bored. Those were/are some of the hardest lessons for me on this WOE.

            My experience ... eat until satisfied. Unfortunately, 3oz of chicken aren't going to much for me. I'm more likely to eat 2 6oz chicken breasts than half of one.

            But again ... I'm a big guy and I can just absorb more food.

            I think it's great to keep a record of how much you eat and your weight loss. If the latter is going down then you're doing OK.

            Again my experience, it's odd but the more you have to lose the more you can eat. Once you start getting down to goal, though, that's when you may have to start thinking about how much chicken you're going to eat.
