  • Feeling discouraged....need help

I've been a lurker for a long time on this board and started Atkins in Jan and have so far lost 45lbs I fell off the wagon for about a month a a half and am back on ( I have to lose 100 lbs more). This is my 3rd week on induction and have only lost 2 lbs. I've been excercising 6 x's a week (this is my third week) and only 2 lbs . I think it might be muscle that I'm building because I can feel inches off my waist. I just feel so discouraged because I am working out hard and eating right and the scale isnt really moving. Anyone run into this problem ????? In fact, I'm getting ready to work out for today but I wanted to post to see if anyone can help me or give me some words of advice. I'm expecting the lbs to start melting off any day now, lol.

And they will, melt off that is. I understand your frustration as first it's taking your body a little longer to get into the losing mode. Stay off the scales for awhile cause they just make thing worse. Drink you water, exercise and follow plan and the melting will come.

Doesn't hurt to do the Whooshi Fairy Dance either. Let me see, you put your backside in, you put your backside out, you put your backside in and you shake it all about. LOL
No, I think thats the Hoochy Coochy. Can some one help here. Need the directions to the Whooshi Fairy Dance.

You've just got to keep on keepin' on. I know that's not fun, but think about what you want and how many years you have ahead of you ... if you give in and stop, in months you'll be as heavy or heavier than you started with no hope of changing.

But you're already down 45 pounds. Whether you lose 2 lbs a week or 10 lbs a month you're on the way to your goal.

So ... a year or 5 years from now do you want to be at your goal weight, or do you want to be another discouraged overweight person complaining because weight loss is so hard.

Don't want to be cruel ... but those are the choices.

Overall, though -- sounds like you're doing great. Don't let the occasional cheat get you totally off track. It's a long road to healthiness, and there are always a few bumps.

Congrats on your 45 pound loss! That's great! The first thing I thought of when I read your post is that maybe (just maybe) you're exercising too much and you're building muscle mass. I was just reading DANDR this afternoon, the part where Dr. A. says that our muscles need time to relax during the week. Also, what types of exercise are you doing? Have you moved out of induction and if so, what rung are you on? Are you drinking your water to help flush the bad stuff out? Have you measured? Sometimes we won't see a huge loss on the scale but we'll notice it in our measurements. How are your clothes fitting lately?

I restarted in January and it's been slow-going for me, too. But hang in there! As long as you're on plan, you're doing great and yes, those pounds will melt off.

          Re: Feeling discouraged....need help

congrats on your great 45 pound start. yep we see folk losing inches but not much scale weight as they morph their bodies working thier atkins, CAFFLYGAL lost over 5 ft of inches and less then 40 pounds morphing her marshmellow body to a healthy smaller on. sclaes only tellyou that you have changed your total body mass not how it has changed. and remember nobody sees that scale number just the healtheir smaller you walking in. make friends with your tape measure and watch the inche4s of fat being burned of even when the scales willl not vailidate all you hard work.

          happy low carbing.

COSTEVE, It's not cruel at all, your right. I've thought about it this way too....do I want to go day by day eating right and getting healthier or do I want to go on eating bad and getting fatter, either way, time goes on and life goes on so I have to make the right choice. Hope that makes sense

Thanks to everyone for your words of support, it really does help. I am going to keep eating right and excercising and I figure my body has to give in and starting losing the weight. I am doing better with my water, that's been one of my biggest challenges.

Thanks again, I love this board, it's a great support system for me as I"m sure for everyone else. On to planning my meals for tomorrw and my excercising.
