    Hi guys!

I'm new and I did the whole introductions thing in the spotlight forum and am trying to get a journal going, but I wanted to say hi in this forum. I just realized when I took a realistic look at my numbers that I need to lose 97 lbs. (Not quite 100, but whatever, you guys have to take me!)

I'm on my 13th day of induction, feel great, and plan to continue on induction for a while. I want to be active in this forum because I want to be around people with similar goals. I'm especially interested to hear how young women with a lot to lose have been doing. (I'm 24.)

          Re: Introductions

So glad to have you on board!!

I guess I may be the sort that you're talking about. I'm 25 (started the diet at 24 back in January) have lost the first 60 of the 130 I'd like to lose. So almost halfway there, but I'm really loving it, even after 9 months. In fact, I love it more all the time.

My best advice is to focus more on being in control of your eating (overcome emotional eating and overstuffing yourself) and developing habits that stick with you (like exercising) rather than obsessing over numbers on the scale. When I first started, I only weighed once a month because I knew that I'm a slow loser and the numbers might discourage me. Exercise has been a huge asset to me...

Also, I found it very helpful to go right into Ongoing Weight Loss after my 2-week Induction period rather than spending extra time on Induction. My weight loss on OWL eating is essentially the same speed as my Induction loss, and OWL is much better than Induction (in my opinion) because it gives you a method to learn how different foods affect your body. Plus, the food choices are so much better on OWL.

Well, anyway, welcome aboard... don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. I hope you like it here.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

          Vigilance, not perfection.

            How cool!

That's so awesome Changing! That's just the kind of story I need to hear. I couldn't agree with you more about the scale thing. We don't actually own one right now, and I like it that way. I'm going to meet with a trainer today after work and I'm sure I'll get weighed by him. It'll be interesting to see how I've done this first 2 weeks. (Today is officially day 14.) I do want to stay on Induction just a bit longer I think. (I was thinking another 2 weeks.) I'm not bored with the food. And I've now discovered Fitday and it's the coolest thing ever.

I do have one question. (For anyone that cares to answer.) First let me say I have read DANDR. But, I think I read on a post that some people add peanuts or peanut butter during extended induction. (I know a very small amount of peanuts, like an oz, and, like, a tablespoon of natural, no sugar peanut butter.) Is that OK? DH would love to be able to snack on peanuts! Also, I have bought some ground flax but have not actually used it yet. I would love to make some of those simple flax crackers/cookies that everyone on the recipe boards talks about, but some people say flax is a seed and you shouldn't use it until seeds/nut rung, and some people say you can use it during induction. Thoughts?
