  • Mirrors should be outlawed!

grrrrrrr. I was out and about today doing some last minute shopping and I ended up in a shoe store.....I was pretty happy go lucky, even out in the crowds....well you know those mirrors that you check out your shoes in? I happened to glance in one as I walked by, what I saw made me back up and stare in horror! My calves look like tree trunks! I was so shocked! Totally wrecked my day.
So I think mirrors should be outlawed That or tree trunk calves should be on the whats hot list in 2007

Mirrors suck. My bathroom mirror is the medicine chest and its the only mirror in the house. Its a horrible mirror, not very high quality, and depending on where you stand, can make a difference of appearance by about...oh say, ten pounds. So yes...outlaw the mirrors. Let's only go by how lovely and divine we feel in our jeans...or whatever your current favorite piece of clothing is.

By the same token, I was out shopping before Christmas and caught sight of myself in a shop mirror as I was hurrying along and I didn't recognise myself - I looked normal - not like a huge blimp. Maybe it is the new bra - it ought to look good it cost me $65! (A Triumph minimiser - and it is comfortable - don't thin much of being an F cup, though.)

                    Re: Mirrors should be outlawed!

Here we go from Mirrors to Bras...oh well. Tamariah, yes, those mirrors just are hideous. At least where I buy my shoes (payless) the mirrors are very close to the floor and I dont' have to look at my tree trunks or cankles.

Now on to Bras...Odille, what a great feeling it is to purchase and wear a new bra. Just to "uplift" lifts my spirit so much. I hate the fact that you have to spend so much to get a good one. A friend gave me a gift certificate to Wallmart a couple months ago ($25.00) and I needed {desperately} a new bra. I thought, sheesh, I can get 2 there. One fell apart after its first washing. Seiously the underwire was out of it. And the other lost its shape a few weeks later. I received a $50.00 visa gift cert. this Christmas, I just don't know where to go to get a good bra. or what a good brand is etc. This week when I go searching, I guess I just have to try it on and see what 'the girls say' about it.

i like title nine for really good, comfortable, supportive bras...and yes, they are expensive. you can find them online at www.titlenine.com. ask them to send you a catalog and you can really check them out. yes, they are sports bras but are comfortable and provide good support. anyway, that's my two cents about bras! have a lovely wednesday everyone!

                        Re: Mirrors should be outlawed!

Back to mirrors, my husband bought me a full length mirror for Christmas, Its the first time I've been able to see my whole self in the six years we have lived here. And let me tell you, its WAY better than the medicine chest mirror. So...I guess we can outlaw mirrors, but not my new one. Because I'm liking what I see in it!

Bras...I shop Victoria's Secret, but I don't know what size they go up to. I used to wear a 36D, but sadly know that I don't wear that size anymore and am dreading going into VS to get remeasured. (A moment of silence, please.)

                            Re: Mirrors should be outlawed!

                            And back to mirrors...
I actually LIKE those shoe store mirrors--because if I'm trying on casual shoes, I'm usually wearing jeans and you can't see my legs, and if I'm wearing heels, I roll up my pant legs to the knee and walk around like that...the heels look my legs look really good...but I have skinny calves...it's the THIGH that's the problem...

                            And onward to bras...
I need to be fitted for a bra...but I'm waiting until I'm closer to goal. I just don't ever have bras that fit me nicely. I must be between cup sizes. If i wear a B, I have the dreaded "Quadriboob"--the top of your boob spills out of the cup, with the top of the cup making a dent and it looks like 4 boobs. And sometimes if I wear a C, I look like I should be buying stock in Kleenex because I should be stuffing the darn thing so much...

Victoria's secret bras fit quite well--I agree, a bra should be a good investment and if you want it to last, buy a nice one. All of my VS bras are still kicking, even the ones I bought 7 years ago! My "cheapy" ones, from Target, etc...those have a MUCH more limited shelf life...like a year, tops.

Yes, I actually found a lingerie shop locally with nice older (and larger busted) salesladies, and got fitted for the bra. It is really comfortable, I am not continually trying to ease the straps off my shoulders.

I was lucky enough to score 2 of the same brand, but a more casual style, for $20 the pair at the after Xmas sale. they are not as comfoprtable but fine for around the house. They do rub the shoulders a bit, but may be better once I've washed them a couple of times.

The expensive can be viewed here: http://www.indulgefashion.com.au/dep...Minimizer-Bras
It is the left most picture.
