  • My New Year's Weight Loss Resolutions

I have been stagnate for months and it had me so discouraged. I have to give myself a pat on the back though because I haven't cheated, not once, and haven't thrown in the towel. So, I am making some resolutions in addition to my regular one of losing weight.

    1. Lose weight, of course,

    2. Drink at least 120 oz. of water per day. (Must be near bathroom at all times).

    3. Eat at least 3 Atkins meals a day, preferrably 5 smaller meals. No salivating over or dreaming about foods I can't have.

    4. Learn more low carb/no carb recipes for more variety.

    5. Exercise more instead of thinking about exercising more. Actually get off my butt and DO something so that when I look at my butt in the mirror, it won't look so dang huge.

    6. Keep my goals realistic so as not to sabatoge myself into depression.

    7. Check in to ADBB more often and post.

    Other suggestions always welcome.

Re: My New Year's Weight Loss Resolutions

I think those are great resolutions Kate. I've found when I don't want to exercise, I have to force myself to do it. I tell myself, even 5 minutes is better than nothing. Then at the 5 minute mark, I say I'll do 10 minutes, next thing you know it's 15 minutes...and on and on as you gain momentum. Just the fact of putting the clothes on gets me started...and if I can get started, I'm 90% there.

Here is something I'd written in my journal yesterday

Okay, I've been doing some reading and thinking and I have a new inspirational quote that I need to read daily...

You all have seen the quote I use in my signature "I can have excuses or I can have results, but I cannot have both".

Dr. Garlow then says something about making decisions that yield RESULTS. And then he says 'Decisions - I will pay attention to even the small, seemingly inconsequential decisions due to the fact that I am simply the cumulative impact of many "small decisions." '

I am the cumulative impact of many small decisions.

So, what are the small decisions I've been making for WEEKS, possibly MONTHS that are impacting my efforts?
    1) not measuring my foods--eyeballing it
    2) not journaling my foods--keeping it all in my head
    3) setting daily goals to eat induction or rung 1, and then eating from rung 9
    4) not stopping when I'm full
    5) not pacing my eating--shoveling it in as fast as I can.
    6) not exercising daily
    7) not drinking water requirements daily

Not doing something counts as making a decision. Everything is a decision. I decide TO DO or NOT TO DO every single day.

Joy, your journal entry is very inspiring! Thank you for sharing it! It is all about decisions and I am deciding to pick up my water bottle and head back to the exercise room right now.
