  • I'm about to lose it and quit

The scale has hardly budged in 2 weeks now. Same 2lbs up and down. Tom came and left this week. Still no drop in weight. Drank almost 140 oz of water yesterday. Did everything I'm supposed to and nothing. No cheats. Not even a slight cheat.

I know people talk about P.I.S.S. and thats understandable but I have a lot of weight to lose. A lot. A whole lot. lol I'm close to the point of moving on and going to do my old habit which is basically live off one meal a day like I did in the past and dropping weight.

I don't understand why my body is holding on to it. Going to give it another week. Last night I sat and ate a whole tomato to get my carbs in.

HI confused, sorry your frustrated, i can relate, i weigh 295 and really have only lost the same 5lbs in the last 3 wks and i have been excercising my butt off for those 3 wks but i have lost inches. Have you did any measuring, because if your excercising you know your building muscle. I would also post my menus on here for everybody to look at, maybe your eating something that is not working for you and maybe they will recognize it. I wouldnt quit though, for one i have done that so many times and that is one reason i dont lose fast, is from jumping to one weight loss plan to another to go right back to the first one. I know for a fact Atkins works but you have to be patient and its not a over the night get skinny plan. Im like you i have a lot to lose, i need to lose about 130 to get to where i want to be, so i would say hang in there and dont look at like im only going to give it a week or else im done because then your not really looking at this as a lifetime commitment.

Re: I'm about to lose it and quit

Confused - have you lost inches? That's where the guideline should be. I was losing crazy inches in the beginning, and the scale was only giving up 1 or 2 lbs (I'd go down four, up two or three, go down five, up three or four). I NEVER lose weight around TOM (even right after)... my whooshie time seems to be mid month. Don't know why.

You joined 3/07, and have lost 18 lbs? That's incredible!! Sounds like you're doing something right! [Okay.... here's the momma voice] - Honey... you didn't gain all that weight in a month or two, right? It'll take time to get it back off! Most people have gained their weight over the course of months ------> even years! Plan on taking just as long to take it back off- when it comes off quicker, you'll be excited!

Haven't lost any inches for a couple of weeks now.... but the scale is creeping down. (I dunno - I can't seem to do both - lose inches AND weight - at the same time). 's ok, tho - as long as I'm doing one or the other, I'm good. Seems like I'll lose a mess of inches - stall for a month - then lose the weight that should have gone with it. (those stingy pounds - 'heck, no, we won't go!!')

Try measuring/weighing once a week (STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE). As long as you see progress in one or the other.... do the Snoopy dance, give yourself a hug, and have another drink of water!!

Re: I'm about to lose it and quit

Hi. I totally understand your frustration. I'm the QUEEN of stalls. A few questions> How do you feel? Have you taken your measurements? How do your clothes fit you? Any loser? Are you following the program including exercise and water and supplements?

Many things come to mind. Have you tried upping your exercise routine or altering it? You've lost 18 pounds in a relatively little amount of time. If you are in doubt, go pick up something that is 18 pounds and you'll see how impressive that is.

I've noticed with me, I lose, then it takes my body a considerable time to catch up with the changes. But, I can truthfully tell you if you wait it out, your weight will start to go down again. I haven't lost for a long time, but I know I will. One thing is for sure, if we quit, we won't make it happen. If we wait it out....it will take a turn for us. We are all different. Some people drop pound after pound quickly, others (like you and me) have to really work at it and be patient. If you do what you did before...(go back to old habits)...then you'll get the same results.

Atkins works. Work it. Become comfortable and quit stressing over each pound. Instead, focus on inches, new recipes, challenges, changing your mind-frame and using positive inner voices to yourself. You've lost 18 pounds!! You are going to make it happen. You are a winner. You have a massive support system here to encourage you! Don't give up on yourself....we aren't giving up on you.

If you need to make changes in your plan...ask. Most all of us have been on the STALL period and although it is frustrating, it will pass.

BEST WISHES. Keep posting. Don't give up. You can do it!!

Re: I'm about to lose it and quit

Hey, don't you quit now! I'm in a stall myself after losing 19# in one month. I'm not going to panic, I'm going to start relying less on the scale and more on both measurements and how my clothes fit.

There's a lot of postings from others who hit this point and saw their size go down, anyway. So I'm going to take my cue from them. In fact, I'll tell you what I did yesterday: I FINALLY took overall measurements. I tried when I first started and got totally frustrated, not knowing where to measure and what to do with certain areas. So I did one around the belly button and that's it. That's the only one I can say for certain I lost 2". Yesterday, I found a site stating where to measure, and some of them I did lying down on the bed because the friggin' tape wouldn't stay in place. So there's quite a few notes in with my measurements. LOL

ANYWAY!, the biggest indication are the clothes. A pair of capris I tried on yesterday were a bit looser today and I still didn't loose any overnight, according to the scale...

So please hang in there and look for inches lost instead.

Re: I'm about to lose it and quit

Thanks everyone. You guys are absolutely great. I'm going to stick it out. I've been fat this long, why not let it ride so to speak.

It's just frustrating when you decide you want the weight off and it isn't happening the way you expect it to. In my mind I'm just wasting time on atkins when I could be losing. I know 18lbs is alot. I knew a stall is expected, but I thought since I had so much weight to lose I wouldn't see it as soon as now. I thought probably 6-8 weeks.

I have been on my water and exercise and take 1 multi vitamin a day (no iron). I'm not constipated. I'm just holding on to blaming TOM. I like to do that anyway. hahaha.

I haven't been checking the inches. Seems like I'm so focused on the pounds, that I don't care about inches. I know I have dropped 1 dress size and probably 2 since my pants almost came down on me when I had handful of change in them. But they were stretchy pants and even still one size down in those same pants are having the same result for me.

I haven't really been hungry and if I have I eat properly. Even when I don't want to eat breakfast, I grab something else. I thought maybe bacon was doing it to me so I stopped eating it last week and nothing has changed. It was low sodium anyway. So I guess I can start eating that again.

Ok, I'm sticking with it. What could it hurt to eat good for my body, nothing.
Thank you. I guess I needed some encouragement about not wanting to quit since I could have just stopped it and never to come back here.

                          Hi Confused!!!
Sweetie, I know how frustrating it is...I truly do. I hate this crap. I hate wondering what the scale is going to say. I hate wondering if I'm going to lose this week. I hate wondering if I ate just ONE to many carbs today...it really makes me NUTS!!! I'm 39 years old. I have weighed over 300 pounds for a little over 20 years now...20 LONG years. I have distroyed my body, and sometimes just the thought of what I have done to my body over these years keeps me up crying. For me, where I am now, losing inches means very little to me (this is just me, and I have lost inches), my clothes feeling looser means very little to me. I WANT TO SEE THE SCALE MOVE...PERIOD!!! I'm such a big girl my clothes are just now starting to feel lose in spots. I've lost 36 pounds for crying out loud...most people who lose that, their clothes would be falling off. BUT the truth is, the bigger you are the longer it takes to see things like that. Drives me CRAZY!!! I think you and I have about the same amount to lose...I think we said that once before WE can do it!!! I have started and stopped so many times, so many diets. This has to be it for me. It is hard when the scale isn't moving, but I PROMISE, I SWEAR, it will!!! Losing weight, to ME is much more than watching what I am putting in my mouth. It is mentally challenging...lmao!!! Really though. It is an emotional roller coaster for me. As I lose weight a lot of issues are coming up for me that I am having to learn to deal and cope with WITHOUT using food. Well, all that is just me own personal feelings. I know you can do it!!! You just need to know you can *wink* I have faith in you Confused, and I'm here if you ever need someone
