Re: Your Motivation?
Actually, years a go I read on someone's signature that "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!". When I am tempted to eat I will look at a "fat girl's" clothing catalog and ask myself if I really want to order clothes from it. NO! I want to be able to walk in to ANY store and buy what I want without wondering if it is going to be the last size they "serve". I want to look and feel better in my 40s than I ever did in my previous 20 years! My health has always been good so that is not nearly the motivation as being fed up with being the "big" girl at work or not feeling as sexy on the outside as I know I am in the inside. I just want to be a better me. So far I have been cheat free since March 18th. This time I WILL meet my goal. End of story.

Re: Your Motivation?
My immediate goal is to get into my riding gear (which does not stretch). The second goal is to be healthy and to able to do aerobics more easily, breathe better, have longer endurance etc. And my third goal is I look at successful women like Barbara Amiel and I want to be like that too. One life, no?

Re: Your Motivation?
Hi Kate, here is a great thread started by Jimmie_48 who asked the question
"WHAT EXCUSEDO YOU HAVE FOR
NOT EATING
THE PIES, THE CAKES, THE CANDY AND THE CARB LADEN FOOD
THAT MADE EVERYONE US OVERWEIGHT?"
Lots of great motivational stuff there. Really a must read.

Re: Your Motivation?
I feel that motivation comes from within each of us. It is that inner voice we hear that lifts us up. I found I had a very low motivation when I started this WOE. I had to nurture it and keep finding phrases/quotes/material that made me feel I could do this. The one thing that I attribute my biggest boost of motivation was the ADBB. The people here really understand and share their feelings with each other. Finding friends to do this with and knowing that each day they would be there for me was the biggest motivator for me. I'd suggest you work on your mental outlook - tell yourself that you are worth it. Give yourself reasons you want this to work. READ the posts of the ones who shared their stories/photos. Go to the Loser's Lounge...it is filled with people who had obstacles to overcome but stayed with the program and made it happen for them. Exercise stimilates your mind and makes you feel good...I totally recommend it anytime you are feeling blue. Utilize all the resources here in the ADBB, READ your DANDR. Dr. Atkins' gave us the greatest gift we could receive when he wrote it. He is gone, but his words live on for us forever. You are not alone. We've all felt down at times, but the people here understand. Post your frustrations, ask for encouragement...you've got thousands of people who will be glad to help.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: Your Motivation?
of course I want to be healthy, more active and live a longer happier life......what motivates me - 2 things. First I want to be as sexy on the outside as I already feel on the inside. and 2 I want to go to paris and make all my dreams reality.
Thanks for this thread.

Re: Your Motivation?
Today I went to the mall. I couldn't find a single thing in my size that I liked. Then I went to some other stores and kept thinking "I wish I could fit into that." Plus I am hoping to gain some confidence when I lose the weight. I still wish I could get my mom to join me. I worry about her but no matter how motivated she gets, she cannot stick with it.

Re: Your Motivation?
When I was looking into weight loss surgery, I had to write a paper about why I wanted to lose the weight... it ended up being 2 long pages
.
But, in a nutshell:
1. To not have to take a handful of pills every day.
2. To look in my closet and not put something on based on whether or not it will cover me good enough.
3. To go into a store and shop for clothes without automatically grabbing the biggest size on the rack.
4. To stop being so self-conscious about my weight that I will leave my house and not just out of necessity.
5. To feel that my DH desires me (my feeling, not his).
6. To stop hooking myself up to a dang machine every night to keep me breathing (CPAP), which plays into the not feeling very desirable.. I mean, I sound like Darth Vader for goodness sake!
7. And of course to live longer..
oh, also to be taken seriously at a job, not be looked at like since I am fat then I must be stupid, that one really puts the cream cheese on my revolution roll!
When I am really feeling the not-being-able-to-go-on blues though, I hit this board and look at all the pictures in before and after. I was here a few years back and I remember so many of the people on here that have been so successful, Kent and Becky are two prime examples, those 2 alone give me inspiration.....

Re: Your Motivation?
I think the biggest motivator is that nothing tastes as good as thin feels. I think someone around here has that as a signature. But it's totally true! If you haven't been thin for awhile, it's so easy to forget that! However, the awful feeling of despair that comes along with that bag of ...whatever nasty thing we think we need...is also a great motivator. Imagine what it would feel like to NEVER have that icky "I just don't care, I'm going to eat it all anyway" guilt/anxiety binge again
!! To be happy and CALM around food instead of freaking out and planning when the next time you can hide out and eat a whole pizza for no apparent reason will be....and to LOVE your reflection and not have to feel shy to sit down in public because *gasp* your lumps might be showing...and to be noticed because you're just darn GORGEOUS. Most of all to LOVE yourself from EVERY angle, inside AND out!! Now that's a motivator!!
