  • O.T. -Holiday Decorations

I hope I'm allowed to post this here?

I was just curious when you all put out your Fall and or Halloween decorations? It is so hot here and I am so missing the Fall weather. I am itching for a change. I mean I wouldn't put anything outside at least until the end of September or the beginning of October but what about inside?

Decorating for Halloween is not really a custom over here, but I would say 'when you want to' is the right time !

Heck - my sister went on a 'Tinsel and Turkey' weekend in June and had a great festive time

ahhh halloween. My favorite holiday ever. For several years we have spent months before preparing for the halloween display. We went to a haunt convention with a lot of the horror actors/celebs and they had special effects classes, etc.

We have put out huge walk through displays with custom built (by us) coffins and props and last year my daughter wanted a halloween party so we did a BIG sunken pirate ship display on our deck. I so love halloween. *still a big kid*

If I won the lotto I think I'd make a halloween/horror theme park open year round.

my mom has me saving corn stalks and hay bales already, she loves to decorate two months in advance so she can enjoy it. She says to each their own.

Hopeful, put that theme park in, I will visit for sure. I believe it would go over like gangbusters. if I hit the powerball we may go into business together.

The only part of Halloween I like is the scary movies. Now Christmas is another story. I start decorating for Christmas about the 1st of November. And then I haunt the stores and keep adding to it Love Christmas.

Well, I think I will put them out over the weekend. Or at least start to. I will blast the air conditioner and have a fall celebration, LOL. I can't wait.. except I need to clean the house first. Can't put the decorations out in a dirty house.

Yeah... I start to put my Christmas trees up the beginning of November along with the Thanksgiving decorations. I put my trees up so early because it takes me weeks and I do an elaborate village underneath my main tree. Not to mention the mess. It takes like a week to clean up from it all as well. I don't turn the lights on until Santa Claus comes at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade because that is officially the start of Christmas Season in my house. But... I don't get the other decorations out until I put my Thanksgiving decorations away.

My Mom would love you Kara. The earlier the better for her.

I think the first of Sept is totally appropriate! There are places where the trees actually do start changing color in Sept! (not here) Do what makes you happy! and to heck with what anyone thinks! lol! Sadly, though summer IS over.
Have fun! Think I'll get mine going too! lol!

                  Re: O.T. -Holiday Decorations

Kara, funny you're asking about fall decorations and such. My children have been bugging me to get their halloween costumes ready. They want to decorate our home with pumpkins and "fall leaves" already. My only gripe about that is, here in FL it's been so hot and miserable, I'm not quite *feeling* fall yet. To me it's still July. To my kids, it's fall because school started again.
I'm with Hope on this one, do what you want, who cares about what other's think. Do THEY have to live in your decorated house? If not, then do as you please!
