  • Just a teeny tiny bit bummed

First let me say that I am happier, I have way more energy, and my husband is happier (if you know what I mean) since starting Atkins.

I am way less achey, and I am not winded as easily. I can get up in the morning and walk down the stairs without having to walk around for 10 minutes.

My shoes are fitting better. Actually, some of my shoes are better. I can't seem to find shoes that don 't give me blisters except sneakers. But regardless.... I am able to wear shoes again that are not sneakers. I still have a ways to go before all the shoes will fit me but I am happy with the progress.

I am generally thrilled with my progress so far except...

I thought I would have lost a clothing size by now. I am still wearing and fitting into the same clothing I was before I started. They are a little bit looser, I will admit. I have gone down about 2 notches in my belt. I am not hanging out of my bra anymore, and my shirts that have shrunk are just starting to fit a little better. But it is all the same size 22/24 and 3X tops. I so wanted to be in at least a size 20 and 2X by now.

As far as pounds lost, I am not sure. I was going to weigh myself every week, but I've decided that that could sabotage me. I'd rather wait.

My question is to you.... How many pounds, or how much time did it take those who have been my size, to go down to the next size?

Anyway... sorry for the ramble... I know I have made great strides in the last month and 1/2 or so... I guess we just always want more.

Chubb you are doing awesome! Your clothes are loser, you are losing inches and I am sure lbs as well. You are feeling better... take your time and don't rush the changes, they seem to be happening rather quickly for you anyway, if you have been on for just 23 days! 3 Weeks and you notice changes in your clothing! That is fantastic, you will be down a size in no time Sizes don't determine anything anyway... it's how you feel and you seem to be feeling great!
I would rather struggle to do this, than struggle with the fact that I can't...

I HEAR you..I am down 31lbs and STILL can't get into smaller clothes..the clothes I do have are hanging off of me.. I keep trying that smaller pair of capris on and one day they are going to fit.. Some people can lose 10lbs and be in another size...

It will happen. For now just concentrate of that your clothes fill loser and you know you are losing inches.. Be so proud of yourself and be patient. As long as you are seeing inches being lost, that is the most important thing to focus on. I am sure as you keep losing inches, you will have to start fitting into a smaller size. Like my fav saying, it took some time to put it on, it's gonna take some time to take it off!!

Kara, you are doing great. If my memory is correct, I had to drop close to sixty pounds before I went down a size. Don't fret it will happen.

What are you doing for an exercise program? How often? Are you doing weight resistance as part of it? Atkins is a lot more than just eating the right thing ... it is about reshaping your body.

I've lost 40 pounds but my clothes don't seem to be fitting any differently. Even though I've lost a few inches off my waist.

I have found that sizes are all different in the plus size world. I have a pair of 14-16 pants that fit well and actually are a little loose.

Don't fret about the sizes. If you don't like your current ones, try a different store!

A day shopping at "The Avenue" will make you feel better. Hope you have one nearby.

I have lost 22lbs, four inches around my waist. I fit into my 20's loosely now, I used to spill out of them. It's frustrating, but eventually I'll be able to fit into my 18's. I'm an inch away from buttoning them up I'm excited about that. It takes time.

IrishIrish~What do you recommend for reshaping our bodies? I'll do anything to get into my 18's! lol

Not all clothing is created the same--that's important to keep in mind. A size 22/24 in brand "x" might not fit you where as the same size in brand "y" would be too large.

Don't let the numbers get you down. I was just at Target yesterday and bought a size 26/28 t-shirt that doesn't fit (it's a bit too snug for comfort) and a size 16 pair of pants that are just right. Weird but they are both different brands.

You should hit the stores for a try on spree. You'll see what I mean about those odd cuts.

Just keep going, keep doing what you're doing, follow the plan - and it will all come off!! Before you know it you'll be fitting in all kinds of stuff and you'll catch a glimpse of yourself in a window and not even recognize yourself!!
It'll happen! It takes time, not a lot but some time. Just hang in there and never give up!!
Don't focus on not fitting into something now but instead just keep looking ahead. I know it gets hard but it'll work - and faster than you think! I know it seems slow while you're losing but it really does come off fast!!
I took me about 2 months to go from 26 to about 22... (first few months).
I stayed at 22 and squeezing into 20's for MONTHS! Even though the scale weight was dropping. Then the 18's came and I stayed there comfortably for about 4-6 months. Now I bounce around 12/14 and I've been here for what seems FOREVER. But I know what I need to do to continue losing but I've been comfortble maintaining for awhile now. But I know once I cut back again it'll happen.
Also, when I exercise the scale slows down but I lose inches...

Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

Re: Just a teeny tiny bit bummed

Thanks everyone! Hugs to all of you. I am so happy I'm not alone. I know it takes time, and I am hanging in there! Currently I am working on a dance fitness tape and that is it. I probably should start doing some toning and situps etc. I think I will ask my husband to help me this evening. When he was younger he used to do all those things. Maybe he'll even do them with me.

Yes, I know different stores, brands, etc... have different cuts. That is so frustruating to me. And yes... So far Target brand is the WORST! I am fortunate to have both and Avenue and Lane Bryant close by.

I will be going on my trip in about 2 weeks. I will head to the stores 2 days before to get some new outfits. I am still holding out hope for a miracle, but even if it doesn't happen, I am so thankful for everything positive that has come out of this woe so far, and thankful for all your support. You guys are the best!

I have to say I think Brady is fairly right Sandy. I went from 277 wearing 22/24's and was wearing 20's at 230 and both 20's and 18's at 225. Didn't make the jump to 16's until nearly 200 (about 205) and then that was sketchy, it all depends on the brand/style. I can wear smaller tops, but those hips of mine are certainly taking longer to reshape into a smaller size.

I went into a TJ Maxx with 7 pair of size 16 jeans. Some were so small I couldn't get my legs into them. Some I could get up but oh the muffin top! And even 1 pair was falling off me. Went back out and got 7 more jeans. Finally found 2 pair, same brand stretchy 16's and they fit. And they fit at 205 and they're still fitting at 225 (I have to get this 20 pounds back OFF me).

so don't completely go by size, as long as your clothes are feeling looser on you, then YOU know you're loosing inches and that's an AWESOME thing!
