Not back to work until tomorrow. Got the kids off to school today, then I the gym.

Austlyn-Glad to hear you are back at it, bumps in the road are part of life. However, when you are at your in-laws you don't have to be at their mercy, do what you want to do. It's all about you at this point in your life, no one else, especially when it comes to eating.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Glad to see you back. Get a cooler and pack some legal snacks to take along with you. I'm sure they'll let you use their refrigerator when you get there. I know it's not easy. I fought the carb demon over Thanksgiving (wanting to eat dressing and cake). However, I knew I would feel so bad after eating it. I beat myself up pretty badly. Just hang in there!! Soon will be the New Year (and no more holidays for a while). Whew!!

          Good morning!

Just an observation, though it's probably been made dozens of times over the years....isn't it funny, if you tell someone that you can't eat something and give them a medical reason, they don't push the issue. Yet, if you say "I can't eat that, I'm trying to lose weight" they still try to cram it down your throat!! How obvious is it that being overweight has many medical consequences? geeeeez, HELLO!!!!!
          Maybe there's a medi-term we can use?

              Hello Century Club,

My name is Lynn and I'm new to this board, just started Atkins today 11/26/07. I posted in the introduce yourself forum yesterday and was initially going to wait until Thursday to start Atkins, but after reading all of the posts, decided I couldn't wait another day!

I got DANDR yesterday and read almost the entire book - there was a feeling of relief that came over me b/c it made sense. It makes sense to me now why I have put on all this weight ~ I am the only one in my family with a weight problem and I never used to have an issue with my weight....until after I had my daughter and my hormones were thrown out of whack. I've been a yo-yo dieter ever since - she just turned 13 on Thanksgiving. I am really hopeful that Atkins is going to help all my hormones (especially my insulin levels) to balance out so I can return to a "normal" life.

I read in a recent post about not being able to fit in an amusement park ride ~ about two summers ago we went to Knotts Berry Farm and I, still thinking I was a skinny chic, tried to get on one of the roller coaster rides and was mortified when I had to get off in front of everyone b/c the seatbelt on the ride wouldn't fit around me! I've never been so embarassed in all my life ~ so after that day I avoided anything that I wasn't 100% sure I would fit into...and stopped going to amusement parks altogether ~ my life now revolves around my weight and it determines what I do and don't do ~ and I refuse to live the rest of my life that way!!

I just recently got divorced (July '07) that was probably the easiest way to drop about 240lbs....but I'm hoping Atkins will help me drop 125lbs with almost as much ease

Glad I found this forum and I look forward to sharing our weight loss success' together.

First of all WELCOME! I so relate to you Cazyaz101. I too have a 13 yr. old. I have hypothyroidism and I'm a type-2 diabetic. I once took medication for high blood pressure and the type-2 diabetes but no longer do. This is the best woe that you will ever find to get your body chemistry back in line. I'm so glad you read the book. You will find as you go how much better you're going to feel. I lost 18 pounds the first month and 100 pounds in ten months. It is doable. The best advice I can give you is to check out the glycemic index to choose your veggies on the lower GI and all food as far as that goes. I found this to be key with my weightloss and how the GI influences us hormonally. Here's a link to learn more www.glycemicindex.com . I'm happy you joined us here at Century Club. I look forward to watching your progress. I'm also glad you started now. You'll be feeling so much better going into the New year a healthier you!

Hello Everyone! Checking in late today. I'm still on track and feeling good. You're so funny Chicklady! Fatbottomoitis, Love it! I agree with Cat, Austlin. Take a cooler with you on your next holiday. It's important that you support your woe by planning rather than set yourself up for pitalls. Don't be at anyones mercy but your own when it comes to this woe. Remember, your in control, no one else! Hi Cat, Hi Bluebelt, great to see you doing so well! TTYL

Re: Century Club Roll Call 11/26, Monday

Hi CC'ers! I'm home from my weeks visit with family and getting back into the routine. Had a slip over the holidays but jumping right back on the horse. I went grocery shopping today to stock up on stuff I can pack for lunches.

Austlyn, glad you're back on track.

Hey Lynn! Welcome to the Century Club! When you say you "avoided anything that I wasn't 100% sure I would fit into...and stopped going to amusement parks altogether ~ my life now revolves around my weight and it determines what I do and don't do" I can totally relate to you. I'm so nervous going to new restraunts or theaters or concerts because I'm scared I won't fit into the seat! In fact, just yesterday, my sister called and said her and her husband are buying tickets to The Nutcracker Ballet and wanted to know if I'd like to go. I made up some excuse as to why I didn't want to, but deep down I really do want to go, I'm just scared I won't fit in the seats. I, like you, am tired of letting my weight determine what I can and cannot do! I miss out on so much b/c of my weight. It's time for that to end. We can do this! And I look forward to watching you succeed!
