  • Team 7...better late than never!!!

    Ahoy, mateys!!

    This is the thread for team 7, the "okay so we didn't make it on time and we aren't officially in the competition but we still want a group for all the fun and support" team!! Everyone who wants to join is welcome.

    We need a name. We've wound up with a pirate motif, and I'm working on a logo now. What are your suggestions?

    We've got:
    Landblubbers
    Atkins Mateys
    Atkineers (used for something else on ADBB, I think)
    Pirates of the Atkin Seas
    CC Mateys

    Any ideas? votes??

    Oh...and here's a fun link:

    It's a short quiz that gives you your very own pirate name!!! Argh!!!!!

      thats a freaking AWESOME link!!!!

      My pirate name is:
      Iron Bess Vane

      A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person. That's okay with you, though, since you a tough person. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

        "You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr! "

        I think I take offense to it, since I shower daily and never smell....unless you count vanilla cologne as smelly..... lol

          How about the "booty snatchers"..lol.. ok, maybe not. :confused
          Or the "black-eyed p's" (for pirates of course), ( I actually squinched one eye shut when I typed that).

            Here it is: My name is;
            <div style="position:relative; border:1px #320 solid; background-color:#c9b390; padding:0 10px; width:400px; text-align:center; font-family:serif; left:50%; margin:25px 0 25px -200px; color:#320;">
            <div>
            My pirate name is:
            </div>
            <div style="font-size:32px;">
            Black Charity Rackham
            </div>
            <img src="flag.gif" style="top:5px; position:relative; display:block; width:100px; background-color:#320;" />
            <div style="left:110px; top:-60px; width:290px; position:relative; text-align: justify;">
            Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, you can be pessimistic at times. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

              My pirate name is:

              Captain Bess Roberts

              Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Two things complete your pirate persona: style and swagger. Maybe a little too much swagger sometimes -- but who really cares? Arr!

              Any of those names work for me.. I kinda liked that Squashbuckler one that was suggested too.

                Ahoy!!

                Why don't we go 'round the ship and say a little about ourselves? I'll start.

                I'm happily divorced and have a son who is almost 7. I work in the probation department, helping probationers and others in the community work towards their GED's. I'm also the graphic goddess of the court. I started Atkins on March 29, 2004 at my high size of 26 and my weight of 295. Now I'm 218 and size 18. My initial goal was to just get back to a size 18. Now that I'm here, I'm not satisfied and can't wait to shrink even more.

                Oh...and one little thing. I don't usually post a lot evenings or weekends. Ex-husband got the computer in the divorce, and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet....

                Who's next???

                ~JoAnne

I work on clinical trials and I *first* started atkins about 5 years ago, fell off the wagon after reaching goal in 5 months, then kept trying to get back on.. I joined ADBB last year and was really good for about 3 months then switched to a different company and fell off the wagon, but now I'm back and better than ever!!

                        Aye Mates! I be Calico Ethel Rackham, I am in my mid-40s, have 4 children (25, 23, 17, and 8 ) and 2 grandchildren (5 and 3), happily married to a very supportive man (well, some say boy since he is 12 years younger, but hey!)... I work from home as a medical transcriptionist for a multipractice large clinic. I started Atkins a year ago, lost almost 50 pounds, went through some crazy things, fell off the boat, gained back most of it, crawled back up on, lost 10 of it... I would like to get down to 180 or so... depends on how it feels. currently I am at 293.5. Will measure later in when everyone goes to their bunks...

                          Shiver me timbers, it's my turn, I'm a surgical tech, originally from Michigan but the Navy brought me out here to Washington where I decided to stay after I got out. I have a 7 year old daughter, the light of my world,who keeps me on my toes and makes me laugh. She looks so much like me the people I work with call her my "mini me". I don't want her to be as "big" as me someday and I want to be around for her for a very long time so that's one of my biggest reasons for doing this wol. Umm..hmmm..(scratching my peg leg...) I wasn't always heavy, use to be very athletic in fact, ran cross country (which is quite a feat with a peg leg ), played softball for many years but I think the turning point for me was after my divorce. I turned to food for comfort, I didn't care at the time if any guy ever looked at me twice or not again. Stupid thing is of course, now I care. And not only about the "looks" I've been missing but about my health more importantly and the influence I am on my daughter. So enough about me, who's next?

                            I guess I'm next. I was doing pretty well to come up with Ladyhairg, so I'm not sure of a good pirate name for myself yet . . .

                            I'm 38 years old and freezing in Michigan! Two kids, ages 6 and 7. I can usually only use the computers in the wee early hours of the morning after DH leaves for work and before the kiddies get up for school, so I'm not here as much as I would like to be. I've tried Atkins twice before, but I'm hoping the third time is the charm. I started at 292 and I've lost 11 (yay!) and my ultimate goal is to get down to 145.

                            Thanks for letting me be part of the team.

                              Your pirate name is:
                              Dirty Grace Vane
                              But my real name is Natalie. I am a 29 year old wife of 5 years and step-mother (fulltime) of a beautiful 11 yr old daughter. I moved from Michigan a few years ago, so my husband could further his career. I am currently in sales for diabetic testing supplies.
                              I was very thin and athletic until I got married. (I blame it all on him..lol) I had actually done a bunch of modeling in my early 20's...but then after marriage, I realized my love of cooking. I LOVE cooking. I was also the first time I ever had a full time job, so I think that the *stress* might have added as well...
                              I started this WOE a month ago yesterday (along with DH), and it is going very well, but I still have trouble with the breakfast thing. I never used to eat it, but now I do about 3x per week. I know it is actuall decreasing the weight loss that I could be getting, but I just don't like to eat in the am, don't really know why. I do like all the breakfast foods, but habits are hard to break.

                              I really like that we are getting a team together and I second or third the nomination for JoAnne as our team leader. So OK graphic goddess, lets see what you've got!

                              Oh, I rarely post weekends or evening either. I am on the computer so much at work that I don't use the one at home very often.
