I'm ready to join the Century Club! I'm currently 284 and have at least 124 pounds to go before I'm in a healthy weight range.
And I don't know about you, but as someone with that much to lose, I'm looking forward...
...to the day I can sit on any chair without fearing I'll break it
...to panties with no lycra in them
...to no more "bat wings"
...to eating out without people eyeing me with pity if I order a salad, or with disgust if I don't
...to sitting comfortably in an airplane seat
...to buying clothes in sizes that don't include an X
...to never hearing "you've got a real pretty face" again
...to dancing without looking like a bag of jelly in an earthquake
...to walking without my thighs rubbing together
...to playing with my son without getting worn out
...to only having an "apron" when I'm in the kitchen
...to the first time my husband can put his arms around me -- all the way around me
...to size 24... then 22… then 20… then 18…
...to bras that don't have to double as a harness for my back fat
...to burning the zippered hoodies I've worn since high school to hide my figure
... to elbows that don't have jowls
...to shopping for a swimsuit without crying
...to riding a bicycle without attracting incredulous looks
...to seeing my bellybutton without having to lift a flap
...to tying my shoes without holding my breath
...to wearing thigh-high stockings
...to being half the woman I once was...
...and though I'm sure I'll stumble along the way,
by the grace of God,
I'm never looking back.
