  • work out question

I dont want to push myself too much, and im actually really enjoying going to the gym. I feel so great after, and really like just getting out of the house lol! I'm going mon thru fri for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. In the morning i do 30 minutes of cardio and then the weights. At night I been doing 20 minutes cardio and then swimming or sitting in the spa. Weekends no excercise. Do you think that is too much? I dont want to over do it, but im feeling good and have so much more energy since ive been going.

Its funny cuz i went with my sister this morning, and she is so skinny. But she walked out of there like she was dead lol. She asked me where do u get so much energy! I feel more energized after, Im usually runnin to the car hopping around

    Re: work out question

I think I've mentioned my beast of a trainer before! He says that while any activity is good, for weight loss you really want the heart rate up to burn fat. If you are hitting those target heart rates for cardio and fat burning, then you are right on.

For me personally, I think you are doing a great thing by keeping your workouts personazlied and fun. If it's an increase over your past daily activity then go for it and keep it up. There's no such thing as too much exercise unless you're causing yourself bodily harm.

I can get into the hows and why's if you want, but your trainer is working off of a low fat world talking about getting your heart rate up to burn fat.

You're burning fat 24x7 while doing Atkins.

The idea that the cardio itself is what burns fat is pretty much antiquated at this point in academia and training circles, what burns fat is more muscle and a raised metabolism, which you get from cardio, weight lifting and eating more regular.
