  • Need some support!

    Hi gang!!
I could really use some support. I am dieing here! I have been doing atkins for 10 months and have not cheated at all! I have lost a total of 140 pounds, BUT now I am really struggling!!
I have been exercising an hour per day ( if I miss a day I do an extra half hour the next day ) burning up wards of 900 cals. Nothing has changed in my diet but I am not losing weight!! It has been 2 weeks and nothing! The firs week I saw a change in the tape measure, but nothing this week. I really need to see that scale go down!!
I eat about 2500 cals a day and had 60 cabs yesterday, with 15 grams of fiber. I am thinking about dropping back down to induction, but to be honest I really love what I am eating. I had rolled oats for breakfast yesterday ( I am on rung 9), chicken Cesar salad for lunch and plain wings with salad for dinner. I have noticed that when I don't exercise my weight goes down. 3 weeks ago i did not go tot he gym for the entire week, and lost 8 pounds, started back to the gym and gained 6.
Someone slap me! I am not going to eat what I should not, but I could use a pick me up.....

    Thanks
    Amy

    Re: Need some support!

Amy we all stall. Its part of any weight loss program. I have stalled for months at a time, but if you stay faithful to the WOE you will be fine. When you are stalled you are not losing but you are not gaining. 140 lbs in 10 months is AWESOME, your body just needs to catch up. Dont worry

      140 pounds is Awesome AMY!!!

How much more do you have to lose and how much do you weigh now?

With all the exercise (which is great) how much water do you drink?

      Hang in there.

3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

        Thanks guys.
Bluebelt , I started at 382 pounds, and I am at 248 now.I drink upwards of 2 gallons of water a day, at least 64 oz while I am at the gym. I am 5'11.5" and I need to lose about another 30 pounds, according to the BIA I have 180 pounds of lean body mass, but I have a tummy that is really bugging me. It is just killing me.....

Truly is great results, 2 gallons, I drink 1 gallon a day, I can't really imagine drinking any more than that. How long have you been drinking that much, my only concern is while drinking water is great for you, that much water may actually begin to be to much.

This may just be your body readjusting, It seems like as people get closer to their goal weight, they have more periods of stalls, then a woosh, etc..

You could always go back a rung or two and drop you overall carbs for a week to see if it helps or shocks your system. But I would just keep doing what you are doing (it has worked great so far) to see what happens.

          Good Luck.

Hey Amy, First off I want to say CONGRATULATIONS on the 140 pounds lost so far. That's an awesome accomplishment in 10 months! Lauren is right...your body needs time to adjust. While I know it's so dissappointing to not see a loss for 2 weeks, it's really not that long in the grand scheme of things. You just have to give it more time. Keep eating on track and doing your workouts and focus on how great you feel. Whatever you do, don't give up! Keeping my fingers crossed for your next weigh-in!

Thanks. I have always drank that much water. My mother used to have me checked for diabetes all the time as a kid, becasue I drank so much water.

Ok off to the gym....keep on keeping on...

Wow 140 pounds in 10 months, that is amazing. Please dont give up, 2 weeks without a pound lost isn't a stall, you have to go 4 weeks without the scale or measurements moving, keep what you are doing and Im sure you will begin to lose again.

                    Re: Need some support!

Congratulations. You are doing terrific and your weight loss is amazing. I understand your frustration, as I've lost 130 in 3+ years and now seems no matter what, I stay the same or zig-zag up/down 3-4 pounds. But as I've said, I lost 130 and that keeps me motivated. Concentrate on your plan and any alterations you can make in food choices or exercises. Keep going, don't look back and take time to celebrate what you've done. I found that when I'm not stressing over the program...I guess pleasant surprises in my weight and inches lost. We'll do it. I've heard that once you've dropped a considerable amount of weight...it takes the body a while to catch up and get used to it. I tell myself that all the time to keep a positive attitude.
