  • hi, i have a question

What is the difference between the various Dr. A books/diets out there? I read "new diet revolution". Could someone tell me which is better and/or the difference? Thanks!

I have an old Atkins diet book, and the NEW diet revolutions are by far more specific and far more nutritious....Atkins keeping up with research. Some folks on this board have said that the newer (after the 2002 version) versions are too influenced by Atkins Nutritionals trying to sell their stuff. Don't know if that is so, as I've never read any later than the 2002 edition.
Have I confused you even more?

2002 was the last book he wrote and it has his personal updates. Since his death, the Atkins company has continued on, some of it good, some of it more concerned about making money and selling crappy food (in my opinion). They also have published new books, but they are not from the hands of Dr. A

          What I know:
          1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

I'll just add my two cents.

The significance of the 2002 edition, written by Dr. Atkins, is that it was written prior to the advent of "low carb processed foods" being available on every aisle of the grocery store. Dr. Atkins only envisioned those foods as very occasional conveniences and not the regular crutches that they have become for some people who think they are doing Atkins.

Dr. Atkins said that we should shop the perimeter of the grocery store ... produce, deli, meats & fish, some dairy and fats. Clearly he understood the "dangers" that we would find in those middle aisles.

I have my tattered, torn and worn portion of DANDR and wouldn't trade it for the world. It has gotten me to the point I am at and I refer to it often, even four years later.
