  • remember?

    Does anyone remember these large peanut butter cups that were individually wrapped? They came out a few years ago and were 2 net carbs each. I could actually have 1-2 a day and still lose weight, but I can't find them anymore!

    Russell Stover has the low carb peanut buttercups that are pretty good. They are 2.4 carbs.

      I just saw them at Rite Aid today. Any of those, and I stall...I'm jealous, but at least I am willing to admit my limits. Took me a long time to admit that I'm not allowed to eat sugar free candy

        Kim; I'd like to offer a piece of advice for you.

        Try to get past your cravings, replace them in your head with anything else. I've noticed over the years is that cravings and 'products' wind up being a gateway back to the dark side. Fact is, no "low carb" treat ever tastes as good as the real thing and often people wind up sliding back because it's a much shorter step from 'low carb' treat to real treat.

        I know for me personally I stalled for 6 months eating "products" the first time I did atkins some years ago. I didn't commit to the real lifestyle change, I wanted my cake and to eat it to, so to speak. This time around I've made a lifestyle commitment, not just a 'diet' or short term change, but a change in my life and the difference mentally for me is huge. I can walk by the candy aisle in the supermarket and not care. Plate of donuts at work? Doesn't interest me. That's the first time in my LIFE I can say that, and I attribute it to the change in mental focus and making a real commitment to myself and my own self worth.

        What do you want from Atkins? To lose some weight, or to change your life? Reading all the stories of the successful people here, they didn't do this as a diet. They did this as a life change. Realizing that was powerful for me.

          I've never in my life ate two peanut butter cups!!! For this reason, I have to stay away from the sweet treats. Give me a whole bag of them or nothing at all!

            As much as I hate to say it, DIGITALMOCKING - you're speaking straight to me too. I learned that I can't eat the sorbitol and other fake sugar stuff because I instantly stall - but the only reason I was giving it up was for stalling, but I still want it and reason that once I get to x amout of weightloss, then I'll be allowed those things. Not true.

            Thank you for reminding me of keeping the right mind set. This is a lifestyle, not a cheat sheet.

              I gave up "treats" when they stopped making them with erythritol. the few that are left are all made with maltitol and that has some ummm, lets say "intersting" side effects.

              That said, I do like the new sweetner (and you can believe this is spelled wrong) ogliofructoside.... however it's spelled....it's a sweet tasting fiber. They use it to sweeten "Chocoperfection" chocolate bars.

              So....for a sweet treat, i melt down a bar, and roll nuts, strawberries, etc in it. That way a bar ends up being 2-3 servings instead of one. If a peanut-chocolate combo sounds good to you, try it.

              Now for those who worry about "having your cake and eating it too", I'd like to make note that i bought 12 of these 2 ounce bars in the middle of november. I have 10 of them left! That's how infrequently i indulge. Truth be told, I would be more likely to overdo LOBSTAH!! than I would these treats





              290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

                Oh gee chick you are a better person than me...I eat a "bag" of candy a "gallon" of ice cream and a "box" of donuts. I HAVE to stay away from the sugarfree stuff...not just because of the whole stall thing but because of the stuff DM was saying. I guess I have the whole all or nothing personality...I would be the one eating sugarfree and think...well I'll just have one bite of "real" ice cream instead of a scoop of sugar free and find half a gallon gone!

                  i can't have the real stuff either. I don't think I've EVER in my life had 1/2 cup of icecream or just a bite of anything. That's the sugar/carb craving thing I guess, cause I don't get that with the fake stuff. The only cheat I've reallllllly thought about though, is, oddly enough, deep fried clams!! But I've been good so far.....

                    What I know:
                    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
                    2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
                    3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
                    4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.
