I havent lost any weight in the last 2 weeks, actually I have gained. I havent been to the gym in a little over a week, so im hoping thats just why. Im back up to 291. I cant seem to lose anymore. I know that I am eating right, same as i did before when i did atkins. And last time I lost so much more. I was losing great 2 weeks ago, the scale was going down quick. Then I had that bad weekend when I ate stuff i shouldnt have. And being on plan for 2 weeks after that still no more loss. Its so frustrating. I almost feel like trying a different weight loss plan. I'm debating checking out weight watchers, because of more food choices that I like. Im not the biggest veggie eater. But I dont know much about weight watchers and wether or not it works as good as atkins. I dont know why its so much harder this time around!

Give yourself time, make a longer term commitment to yourself.

Take measurements and pictures, I only lost a pound last week (as a 300+ lb man) but my pictures were vastly different, so were the measurements.

Post your menu for us, let us take a look, we can help.

      Re: Frustrated

This is generally what i eat.. i tend to eat small snacks thru the day rather than large meals..

      celery
      cream cheese
      green beans
boiled eggs with mayo & mustard, or fried eggs
      Grilled chicken slices
      ground beef, steak
      mozzarella cheese sticks
      pepperoni for snack
salad with ranch and grated cheddar cheese
      sugar free jello
tons of water, but occasionally diet shasta cola made with splenda
      cucumber slices
      pickles
a few olives once in awhile on salad

I probably could use more veggies.. but mainly lettuce, cucumbers, green beans and celery are pretty much all i can tolerate.

Hey dropz, I can tell you I did weight watchers, and it wasnt for me...you had to weigh everything, and it was soooo hard to stick to...then after busting my butt all week, and feeling miserable the whole time...I would lose maybe 1/2 lb, or nothing...I hated it.

about the weight not moving...it happens...the scale is brutal...especially to us women, cause of all of our water retention and things like that...Its been pretty cruel to me as well lately...it wont move for a week or two, then I'll drop like 5 lbs.

Stick with it...we can do this!!!

Thanks. I was really about to quit. But after researching weight watchers online I already know that is definatley not for me. I went grocery shopping tonight and got alot of stuff I can make, this will definatley help. And back to the gym tomorrow. Ahh I'm not giving up, but man it gets so hard at times.

            Re: Frustrated

Christy, I know exactly how you're feeling. Trust me. Just read back in my journal a little and you'll see entries from several months ago where I just knew I was doing everything right but I was not losing an inch AND I was working out 2 to 3 hours a day! It can be super frustrating. But I stuck it out (thanks to all the advice and encouragement I got on this board) and have been losing steadily ever since. You CAN do this! Hang in there. Make sure you're eating enough, sticking to the allowed foods ONLY, drinking enough water, and getting enough fat. It sounds weird but I noticed that when I started eating more fatty meats (well, mainly ground beef) for dinner instead of my usual grilled chicken salads I actually started losing again. Just start tweaking your menu and tracking in fitday to make sure you're numbers are okay. It might help to post a typical menu with quantities and such in the "Review my Menu" thread. People always give great advice in there. Either way, just hang in there. Those pounds will start to come off if you're persistent. For now just focus on how good you're feeling. Keeping my fingers crossed that the scale will be good to you soon.

There are folks who can stall just drinking any diet soda. For some people it tastes so sweet that you still have an insulin reaction to it because your body thinks it's getting sugar. The only other thing I saw about your meal plan was that it's potentially a little high in cheese between the cream cheese and other bits getting in there throughout the day.

I also found Nitrates to be really bad for how I feel and caused problems with my weight loss. Are you checking your meats(especially the pepperoni for nitrates) ?

I'm glad you're committing, this will work for you, and work well

                  Re: Frustrated

Good advice here. I too have gone almost two weeks with nothing. I know that Atkins works so you just have to dig in and stay for the long haul. Everyone gets frustrated and quite a few want to quit. Just look how many people are members of the Second Time Around Club. There's a reason people came back to Atkins. The reason is this "way of eating" really works. Hang in there!

                    Re: Frustrated

Dropz, I noticed that you seemed a little bummed about your lack of food choices? Have you moved on to OWL yet? During OWL you continue to lose weight consistently, all while adding foods back in to your diet. Rung 1 is more induction veggies, and many times those extra veggie carbs help jumpstart weightloss again.

There's no reason to be bored with your food. Have you checked out some recipes on Linda's site? She has TONS of great ideas, they're easy to make, and they're DELICIOUS!
                    http://genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

Also, are you sure you're eating enough calories? Do you use fitday? It's a handy site to get the "numbers" on what you're eating. YOu should be eating at least 1200 calories a day, I would say closer to 2000 based on your current info. Your daily percentages should be 65% fat, 5% carbs, 30% protein if you're on induction. As you move up through OWL, your protein remains at 30% and carbs increase slightly while fat decreases slightly.
