I was so depressed this morning after doing great all Induction. I GAINED 1/2 lb since yesterday.
I was so depressed all day, I almost stopped altogether.
I didn't though, but hardly ate today due to depression. I'm scared to add more vegetables if I'm ALREADY gaining.

    Re: help

how far in are you? You've got to figure that certain times of the month you are going to retain fluids. Don't stop eating your legal foods. If you stop eating your metabolism will slow and that is the kiss of death. Keep up the good work. 14 lbs is nothing to sneeze at and jeez don't get so dramatic over 1/2 a pound. If you gain 5 lbs than be worried. Your weight fluxuates during the day. If you do not feel comfortable moving onto the rungs you can extend your induction. Just don't get bored with your menu choices and quit. You can do this. Think about it. It takes 28 days to form a new habit. After 28 days this way of eating will be old news and second hat to you. There is no sense quitting now. You've made it through the hard part... this diet is the easiest, cheapest diet that works I've found to date but you have to keep yourself motivated. Don't quit. Keep going and find out what works for you.

        Re: help

Kim, weight fluctuates significantly from day-to-day on Atkins. But overall, it goes DOWN. That's why no more than a once-weekly weigh in is recommended. I know it's tough, but really try... especially if a half pound upsets you that much. Keep following the plan -- if you want to extend induction, go ahead, but I would be very surprised if a few extra veggies was the problem. Actually, I doubt there is a problem.... just the usual scale gymnastics. Hang in there!

If you have to weigh yourself every day try and do it the same time every day to give you a better idea of your actual weight. I have noticed my weight fluctuating by a couple of pounds during the day. Your doing great. Don't get discouraged by 1/2 a pound.

              Re: help

I agree with what the others have said especially Adena...yesterday I was 216 now today back to 220...Im over that damn scale... I know that Im shrinking, and the scale lies to a degree...It will look as though were gaining when really it could be our muscles holding water (especially if your working out) I always notice the scale go up when I've had a strenuous workout...or we could be developing muscle mass (muscle weighs more than fat...so if you lose 1 lb of fat...but gain 2 lbs of muscle guess what...the scale goes up...momentarily...til of course that muscle starts helping to burn the fat.

To make a long story short...dont fret...like adena said "Overall...it goes down"

I HATE THE SCALE...now I may love it tomorrow but I hate it today! I am trying to weigh once a week...but I am a little obsessive so I am doing well with once a day...when you weigh like that it is always fluctuating! .5 would be great but I am more on the lines with Jammie...I may go up 3 pounds in one day...and then back down in two days...crazy...BUT consistently losing...

                  Re: help

o.k. thanks guys . I know I was a little dramatic. But I DO weigh myself the same time every day. Just once, in the morning. I'm on day 17 today. I'll extend Induction. Oh, and I know I don't exercise enough. I walk on the treadmill 30 min 2-3 x a week. Thanks for your support and seeing me through my little breakdown.

                    Re: help

Stay off the scale!! Dr. A talks about how our weight varies from day to day which is why he recommended not getting on the scale daily. Weigh in once a week & more importantly take your measurements to keep track of inches lost!!
