  • Help With Ham

I posted this question on the Roll Call thread this morning, but thought I would post it as a topic, too.

Does anyone have a baked ham recipe without brown sugar, pineapple or other sugary products?

    Thank you!

    Re: Help With Ham

    Hi Callie, and happy bday!

Well I have been thinking on a possible option for a sweet ham, here in Mexico we dont eat much that dish but being a passionate of cooking, I might try to experiment some posibilities.

First of all I think you could try to make your own "glaze", maybe a combination of lemon juice with some splenda or stevia, add some salt, pepper and garlic, maybe a little of ginger and rosemary for a sweet and sour taste and browned butter for the color, although it would be more like a marinade than a glaze I think that the flavor would be quite good. you can decorate it with little pieces of tomato instead of the cherries hehehe and fresh rosemary on the top.

I think I will give it a try when I find a healthy ham, here they are mostly cured with nitrates, still havent find one that doesnt have this ingredient.

    Bon Appetit!

Try this George Stellas Baked Ham recipe
      http://www.inmamaskitchen.com/RECIPE...baked_ham.html
Thats the only recipe that I can find. But I like to just bake my ham without anything.

I think I've been given some good advise, lol. I forgot to add that we DON'T like cloves in ham at all. I think I'll keep it simple. I might rub a little mustard on it and bake it. Sounds good to me. Thank you everyone for your help.
