  • Munchies...

Every once in awhile I get the munchies or at least what I call the munchies, meaning its not a meal or snack time but in between and I am feeling hungry for something. These are the times that I'm most likely to cheat so I was wondering what are some Atkins friendly things I can munch on when I get those cravings, that will also help curb them?

cold cuts.....roll up ham and provolone and/or roast beef and swiss, and you can even spread a little mayo and or mustard. for snacking....yeah i think it can be a little tough too....but how about vegetables as well. if you are to that rung of the diet.....almonds, they are awesome.

          HELLO SAN DIMAS!

          [reference to Bill and Ted]

Anyway! If you overeat on nuts, portion them out ahead of time. Get little containers and measure them out and know when you eat that container you are done.

Lately, I like boiled eggs. Used to be, it was pork rinds. But boiled eggs are good to me because they already have the perfect ratio.

              Re: Munchies...

I take left-over meats from the dinner before and cut into bite-sized pieces along with a few bits of cheese and keep them in baggies in the frig door. When the munchies hit, I grab a bag and have my snack. If I don't have left-over meat...I use celery, green pepper, radish, cucumber or whatever veggies I have. I always make this every day so that if I get tempted, I already have something ready for me. If I don't use it during the day...I use the veggies in my salad.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I like the idea of having things ready ahead of time in little baggies, no prowling through the frig or cabinets to find something.

This was a great thread! Some great ideas!

Before I restarted Atkins this past weekend, I would have a bowl of cereal before bed (part of why I'm back!). I've been trying to find something induction-friendly to have when I have a taste for something late at night.

                    Re: Munchies...

This sounds gross, but it's not that bad...

regular pork rinds and cinnamon and melted butter. shake them up in a big ziploc and eat that

regular pork rinds with cinnamon and some cream. let that sit and it tastes like cinnamon toast crunch. odd, but true

I HATE pork rinds regularly, but both of these ways I find them tolerable

I like to make the ham, cream cheese, pickle roll ups and slice them like sushi and keep them in the fridge. I also like to have cucumbers and blue cheese, tuna with cucumbers. cucumbers with some lemon or lime....I like cucumbers

                    deviled eggs
