  • Any advise?

I posted over on the exercise board but didnt get much, so here goes....

I have been exercising at an extreme mode ( for me) for 8 sessions now....I have been 100% on my woe..keeping calories at or around 1200-1500 a day..carbs at around 20-25...( exercise includes 5 days a week of 60 minutes hard core cardio..and 3 days a week of weights) and yet NO loss in 2 weeks of lbs or inches....2 weeks doesnt sound like a lot, but I went trhough all of march with no loss either...I"m soooo beyond frustrated!!

    Re: Any advise?

I'm passing out my .02 worth today. I know how it feels when you don't get much response it can be a little depressing when you are already struggling.

First of all great work on the lbs lost already. I tend to work out a little to much and have found that if I decrease my exercise to an amount that is "necessary" if that makes sense then when I hit the plateau I can increase my exercise a bit and the weight will start to fall off again.

Keep in mind your body will adjust to eating and exercising and if you exercise vigorously it will become accustomed to that work out level. When you do need to bump it up to get through the plateau you don't have much left to give.

    I hope that makes sense.

Perhaps you need a bit of perspective. You have released over 42 pounds since starting this way of life! ( Restart date Feb 2, 08 ? ) Take a moment and just enjoy that incredible weight loss! That is truly amazing! I don't know of too many diets that get those results. I would suggest that if you had gained that weight instead, you would be fairly upset. Listen to your body. You are obviously doing the work, let it do its. You are in essense trying to cut your body weight in half. That is astonishing. That will take time. Be patient and continue your good work!

Hi, You are not eating enough food, with the amount of exercise and limited calories, your body will feel like it is starvation mode and hold on to what is has.

Good luck and congratulations on your losses to date.

            Re: Any advise?

Hiya - wow 42 lbs lost so far is really a fantastic achievement. If your scale doesn't show any decrease, how about your measuring tape? Or your clothes? Have you noticed a change of your silhouette? If you are exercising as much as you do, your body will build muscles and that's why your weight isn't decreasing.

I know how frustrating this can be, but hang in there! It's worth it.

              Re: Any advise?

Your body is in starvation mode, you aren't getting near enough calories for the kind of workouts your doing.

You need to get closer to 1800 - 2000 calories a day for the kind of exercising you're doing. If you can, try to split that over 5 meals a day, but that's kind of extreme.

I agree with Blue and Digital. You have to make sure you're balancing your calorie intake with the calories you burn off so your body doesn't think you are starving it and holds on to everything!

Just keep your chin up and be patient. You have done an amazing job!
