It's been 12 weeks since I've started this WOL. Really, it's been amazing. I can't believe how little I miss starchy/sugary carbs. The only time they start to sound good is when I'm really hungry, but as long as I eat something good (Atkins-approved) the passing thought goes away. If I'm not particularly hungry I don't believe I ever think of illegal foods. It's such a relief to be in control of my eating. It's great that food no longer occupies my thoughts during every waking moment.
Since I've started Atkins I've lost 29 pounds! That's a lot. I've gone from the 240s to the 230s to the 220s and I'm about to enter the 210s!!! Within the last few weeks a lot of people have started to make comments on my weightloss
- I'm tickled pink. Someone at work even asked my advice on how he could make changes to lose some weight before his expensive suits no longer fit. That made me feel good - that someone would ask me for advice. I do realize that this WOL/WOE is not for everyone. If someone is like I was with food (overwhelmed by cravings, not able to stop even when full, daydreaming about food, planning out when/where to eat the next special treat) then I would definitely recommend that they try this WOL/WOE. In the last sentence I referred to the 'next special treat' - this could be ice cream, french fries, any drive-thru food, scones, chocolate, chips, etc. There was nothing special about it other than an enjoyable taste. Nothing! What else was special? There wasn't much nutritional value in it. Eating it usually made me feel tired, lazy, and depressed. It was empty calories. I wasn't eating it for fuel, but rather for pleasure. Eating it made me want more of it or something else. It was this terrible cylce that I'm so happy I no longer have to deal with. It's nice to eat to live now rather than live to eat!
Since I've been on this plan there have been a few times that I over ate on acceptable foods, but those times are so rare - thank God!
Exercise has been an integral part of this WOL for me for the last 8 weeks. The first four weeks I probably didn't exercise more than two times per week. For the last 8 weeks I've exercised every day (except one I think). The exercises I mainly do are walking, clogging, crunches, and push-ups. Like Dr. Atkins says, "Exercise: It's non-negotiable" - you need to do it! There are so many benefits of exercise - weight loss/control, heart health, increased stamina, bone density, better sleep, sense of accomplishment, more energy, etc.
I'm very grateful for this WOL/WOE, Dr. Atkins, but I'm especially thankful for THIS BOARD
and all the wonderful people on it
!!! Thank you!
