  • Newbie to the Century Club, but not Atkins

Hi everyone! I am new to the Century Club, but not to Atkins. This is my THIRD time on, and my final time. I am determined to get this unhealthy weight off of my behind.
I had a wonderful success about a year ago. I lost about 45 pounds in 5 weeks. I lost pretty steady, and was so excited, that I found myself getting off of it slowly but surely. Why I did that, I do not know!
I also tend to weigh myself daily. I know, I know, a BIG no no!! I am now putting up my scales, and weighing only every two weeks.
Also, I seem to strict myself on eating on Atkins. I don't like Flaxmeal/Flaxseed, and alot of the recipes are tasteless to me. I just eat fresh vegetables, raw or boiled or grilled, chicken, bacon, lobster and shrimp. From time to time I will eat a small beef jerky stick or some pork grinds. Whenever I would crave something sweet, I would have one of those sugar-free jello servings cups, with a little bit of cool whip, or have a few sips of Atkins Advantage shakes ( around TOM ). I seemed to have lost at a very steady pace. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I might like? Please help! I don't want to fail again! I start June 1st, and already bought fresh vegetables, cream cheese, etc.
I just love this site! I get so much inspiration at looking at the before/during/after photos. I have over 100 pounds to lose. My goal is 160. I am ONLY taking it 10 pounds at a time so it doesn't seem so much and hopeless. Thanks for listening.

Re: Newbie to the Century Club, but not Atkins

Hi Misty! This is my third and final time too I'm actually foloowing the 2002 book this time. The 85 version was too lenient for my total lack of willpower
I like to have snack stuff ready. There are a lot of chickens running around without wings, and piggies without ribs I precook those and they just need a few minutes reheating when I'm in a munching mood.
have you tried Jicama? It's acutally nice and sweet when raw. Just cut it up like an apple. Goes good with a lemon-sourcream dip too!

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

I have never tried Jicama. Don't think I've ever heard of it to be honest with you. Obviously it's a vegetable. Do you eat it raw like an apple? I might have to try that. Give me something new and different to snack on. Thanks !

Try 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, 1 oz. cream cheese, 1 pkg Splenda & 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds. Stir well & enjoy. It is like having pumpkin cheesecake. Some people use 2 oz of cream cheese but it was too much for me.

I add an egg to the mix since I like it to be a bit harder, and think it's easier if you nuke the cream cheese for about 10-15 seconds to make it soft so you can stir everything together...

Hey Misty, Welcome to the CC! I too have been on Atkins before and failed only to find myself wondering why in the world I ever let myself get off track. This WOE is so easy and fulfilling.

Linda's recipes on her website are awesome! My favorite is the "Just like stuffed mashed potatoes." You make it with cauliflower and it is yummy! I also like the pumpkin recipe too. You know you can be successful on this WOE b/c you've done it before. Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing you around the board.

Since you live in Texas, I would think you would have been introduced to jicama--it's grown in Mexico and is used a lot in Tex-Mex foods. I fell in love with it, but have a hard time finding it on the East Coast. You usually find it near the potatoes in the store. I love it any way, but squeeze a little lime juice on it and a little sea salt and it is fantastic. If you don't know what it looks like, you will probably have to ask.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thank you to all of you! You're all such a big help! I think the reason why I got off Atkins before, was because I was bored with the eating the same things over and over. I added that link to my favorites. Thanks a bunch guys! I will be posting progress pictures monthly too, so watch out for them! Thanks again!

Thank you **SunnySmiles**. Yes, I have seen those in stores, but thought it was some sort of potato. Yep, I live in Texas, but there's alot of things here I don't try!...lol.....I will go and pick some up in the morning. Thanks for all the help everyone.
