    Re: Fighting a craving....

I ride the wave & the craving will pass. I will also busy myself with a project. My junk drawer has been cleaned so often that my husband can't find anything!

It is never worth caving & giving in to the craving. So hang tough~~~you can do it!

I think positive thoughts and go look in the mirror. Then I decide, do I wanna stay this way or do I make the move. That quickly gets rid of the craving. Resist and stay strong. If you dont think about it, then you wont crave it. God Bless,Joe

I drown myself with water, and if necessary, down a dose of chicken wings or spare ribs

          Re: Fighting a craving....

I've given into cravings 2 times in the past 4 months. What I found was that the food/sweet I was eating did not taste "right". In fact it did not taste the way I remembered it tasting. And to top it off I felt sick/queasy after eating it. So now when I get those cravings I give myself the “talk”. Why would I want to eat something that does not taste good and makes me sick? So far (last night included) I have been able to talk myself out of eating it.

Another thing to try is to make a low carb treat from one of the many recipes available. That has helped me too with my chocolate cravings.

          Good luck!

            Re: Fighting a craving....

Assuming the craving comes at night (which is when most of my cravings occur), I try to down a large glass of water and go to bed. It has been my experience that my cravings are just my brain not correctly interpreting my body's signal that it is tired. If I'm laying in bed staring at the ceiling (and thinking of a turtle sundae!), I either take an OTC sleep aid, or I snack on a legal item without regard to calories, or both. I do not eat a "legal" sweet substitute because the sweet taste would only increase my desire to supplement it with the evil, sugary monster hiding in that sundae. Regardless, I have NEVER had the craving stick around to morning. So the question on Saturday morning is, "Did you resist the urge??"

Ok, I reisisted the urge! YAY~~ That was a strong one too and I think it came more out of habit that anything as our usually summer holiday routine is taking the kids to the park, cooking out, and going to get ice cream! Thanks so much everyone...for a bit there I didnt think I was gonna make it no matter what I was telling myself I had the little evil side of my brain TRYING to tell me "One time wont hurt, it is a holiday!" Well, I think that side got mad and left beause this morning that craving is gone and I feel wonderful that I resisted!
