Re: 8/4 Roll Call Good Morning!

Good Morning to Chick and all that stumble on to the boards this day.

It is mostly water although I gave in and had a can of diet soda today. Caffeine-free and splenda sweetened but I still feel a bit frustrated about it. I just love the bubbles too much I guess.

Anyway, I feel great. It's tough at work because we're wrapping up summer school and getting ready to start the school year. Administrators don't get summer vacation. Bleh! Fight the good fight everyone, and remember that no food, no matter how delicious, is worth more than our health and our confidence in ourselves.

Hello Chick, Kathie,Tim,Etire and all those that check in.
Congratulations on the one pound gone forever Kathie!
            Water here Chick!
Hi there Tim, another reason not to drink soda is that our digestive systems weren't built for carbination. It actually irritates our digestive system and causes swelling and water retention. Better reason to drink your water.
Hi EtireI'm so glad you joined us all here!
I just got back from the city with a car full of groceries. Yeah!
Here's a news letter from Jillian Michaels I thought might interest everyone.

            Fight Back With Exercise
Sometimes things happen to our bodies that we can't totally control — like certain health conditions. Unfortunately, healthy eating and regular exercise can't cure everything — but that doesn't mean you can't take your best shot with them! Think about all the things a healthy diet and exercise can help you do, such as reduce the risk of "lifestyle" diseases (heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers), lose unwanted weight, alleviate stress, and look and feel your best.

Even if you're suffering from a health condition that you think is beyond your control, you may just find that a healthy lifestyle will benefit you in ways you never imagined, as it did for one teammate. This message made my whole day:
"I grew up with severe asthma. Spent a lot of time in the hospital as a child, didn't get to play sports and could barely run since my asthma wouldn't allow it. Fortunately, now, medicines are better, less people are smoking around me and my asthma has been doing great during my adult life. I took karate for a couple of years, owned a horse, went to the gym, but still didn't run.
Then one day a friend took me out and got me started running (I was 37 years old.) I loved it! The kid that could never breathe was now suddenly running in 5Ks — not fast, but that's ok, I finish. Then last year, I signed on with Team in Training's Leukemia Lymphoma Society after my father-in-law passed away with cancer. They helped me train for my first marathon! At 42 years old, I ran 26.2 miles and loved every step I took. It was incredible and I felt great all the way. My family was amazed, as was I. The little girl that could never run because she could never breath was now out there running a 26.2 mile road race! I finished in 4 hrs 48 min (my goal was to run it under 5 hrs), and I did it! I'm back to doing my 5Ks again, and now I'm currently training for my first Sprint Triathlon in 2 months (swim 1/4 mile, bike 11.5 miles, run 3.1 miles.) I'm a terrible swimmer, but I've been taking lessons this summer trying to improve on it. Though the swimming part of it scares me, I know I'll get through it one way or another." – Murphy2004

              Hi Sherri!

Thanks for the info! You always have something valuable to say. I am getting down to one can every couple of days. I never liked coffee so when I needed a caffeine boost in the mornings, I turned to my diet soda. I'm getting there. It's no where near the 2 two liter bottles I was downing each day before.

Kudo's for all of your accomplishments Tim. I use to be a Diet Coke Queen. I do understand. Over the past four years i've been known to still kick back a few. Only farther in between now.
