    Sherri, thanks for the congrats! So far so good. I decided to continue another round of extended induction to see where it takes me.

    Hi Chicklady, the pepper recipe looks tasty. What is the "not-starch" and where can I buy it?

    Hi Everyone! Things are going well and I'm feeling really energetic! I'm starting to experience some shin pain from walking so I plan to nurse that so I don't knock myself out of being able to exercise for weeks....that would be bad! Other than that, no comlaints. I'm finding that I know look at sugar, refined flour, etc as poison for my body and I'm really enjoying the low-carb lifestyle. Hope everyone has a successful day.

      Hello everyone... Hope you are all doing well... My ankle is healing and although it is sore, I will make it through I am having a rough week though and havent been eating enough food or drinking enough water. I havent been on the scale in over a week but my tummy is getting flatter I need to try and take better care of myself... its difficult when you have a dh and 2 little faces counting on you for everything They start school tomorrow so I am hoping for some much needed mom time very soon

        Good Morning Etire, Happy, Lacey and all those that check in
        Great news Etire! I stayed on Extended Induction for 4 months. I lost 65.5 pounds in that period. Then I moved up the rungs. The weight just kept melting off just as well at each rung. I didn't eat from rung 4 for a year. I pretty much stayed at rung 3 throughout my weightloss. It wasn't untill about 14 months ago that I moved up the rungs to Rung 7. Where I stay pretty much now. Although eating cantalope in moderation. I skipped rung 5 because I don't drink alcohol. It doesn't have any nutritional value at all.
        I'm going into my 5th year of being on the Atkins Lifestyle. Healthier than i've ever been in my life.
        Happy, I love your attitude! I love how you're evolving on how you view food. You are absolutely right about how sugar, refined flour, etc., are poison to our bodies! Keep up the fantastic work you're doing!
        Lacey, i'm glad to hear your ankle is healing. I hear you about getting some mommy time. My DD starts back to school on Monday, YEAH! More time to put ourselves first. I plan on getting back into my walking routine. Wish me luck.

        You've Got Class
        Signing up for an exercise class is a great way to add variety to your weekly cardio routine. And let's face it — misery loves company, right? Sweating through all that cardio with companions can be a great motivator.

        Just be sure that if it's a cardiovascular class, it involves a minimum of 45 minutes of activity and keeps your heart rate up. Go to your local gym or fitness center and see whether you can get in on one of these bad boys:
        Spinning: Climb on the bike and pedal to motivational music and instruction. Spinning doesn't require a whole lot of coordination, and you can keep your own pace; in any case, it's a real calorie-burner.
        Step: Start marching up and down to the beat of your step aerobics instructor. The stepping motion offers an extra boost to this cardio workout by adding another level of intensity.
        Boot camp: This high-intensity workout will kick your butt — in a good way. It's a combination of cardio and strength training, and it works the whole body.

          Morning, or rather, afternnoon ladies!

          I'm here, and on track. Got back from the Doctor this morning and he reported that my blood pressure is 108 / 70. And that if it kept up, I might get off the meds. Sweet.

            That's great news Kagi! CONGRATULATIONS!
            I remember when I got off the high blood pressure meds. I was sitting up in bed watching T.V. one night and I began to pass out. I took my blood pressure and it was 90/55. Needless to say, I took myself off the meds and didn't ever take them again.
            Again, CONGRATS! Atkins truly is a healing WOE & WOL!!!!!

                  Good morning everyone!

                  Etire...I buy my not-starch at Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore! It's pricy....$15 for an 8 ounce bag,,,,but that usually lasts me half a year.....and I evn tried using a little in my nut barsa (I didn't notice a difference) It's a combo of fibers (all gums) that thicken gravy, etc. I had previously tried just plain guar and just plain xyanthan (sp?) but they clumped....this combo doesn't. BTW, I made lumpy gravy back in the flour days, so this is almost a miracle





                  290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

                    Hi Everyone,

                    I'm new to the board and wanted to check in to say hello. I started Atkins on Monday and managed to maneuver around the freshly baked Toll House cookies my husband cooked on Tuesday night, as well as the half-eaten tub of Cherry Garcia that's sitting in the freezer. Small victories, but I'll take them!

                    Anyway, I just added my story to the Spotlight thread, but wanted to pop over here to introduce myself as well. I'm at 333 right now and my goal is 150... so I've got about 180 lbs to lose. I know what it takes because I've done it before (250 to 180), it's just a matter of making the lifestyle changes and commiting to making them permanent.

                    So that's me... thanks for reading
