I missed yesterday's check in so this will cover all the bases for me
I hope everyone is having an on track week.
I have a question... the hubby and I are at the point where food is just food, not really holding too much joy for us... you know, no longer the "comfort" it was which is great IMO. It should just be food. That's its job.
Here is the question - we aren't getting in enough food. Should we try and up our carbs? I don't really want to. I have been adding in nuts for more calories (almonds) and adding a little butter and olive oil or mayo to what I cook.
Honestly, we basically keep the induction amount and just added in the almonds (1 serving a day), berries (maybe 2x a week but it's been weeks since we did this - and it was strawberries, raspberries, blackberries) and we eat a 2 carb/slice bread (sandwich for lunch for DH - he has to have an "on the go" lunch and I usually have toast for breakfast). We also have a LC ice cream treat a few times a week, but only if we are within our 20-25 carb limit and can do it.
But the strange thing is I don't think we are taking in enough calories.
Otherwise we just do induction foods mostly. Just because it's easier for us. Also, DH is a bit of a lunatic when it comes to sticking to the diet - he picks carrot shreds out of salads if we go out. It's just easier to stick with the list for us (ok, him).
Any advice is appreciated. I am reading the OWL vs extended induction right now. The thing is, it's hard - really hard - for us if we can't do the bread or nuts for him due to how he has to manage his day.
Good morning Salima, Chick, Blue, Happy, Mag and all those that check in It's okay Salima, I changed the Monday to Tuesday for you Mag, what rung are you on? Your menu puts you at Rung 9 whole grains if you're eating LC bread. Doesn't matter if you're eating mostly extended induction, if you're eating LC bread, that's rung 9 food. It's really important to reintroduce foods back into your woe in the correct Cabohydrate Ladder. As in Rung 1, veggies, Rung 2 Dairy , Rung 3 Nuts and seeds, Rung 4, berries, and so on. That way you'll find out which foods you're tollerable or intollerable too. One would never know unless they moved up the rungs correctly. It's important to up your carbs by 5 gram carb incroments. By moving up the rungs in the correct order. Do you know your CCCL? (Critical Carbohydrate Level for Losing) This is crucial to know when doing Atkins correctly. Do you have DANDR 2002?
