  • Question for fellow Century Club members

Hi there fellow Centurians! I just finished week 9 of doing Atkins, and I've lost about 30 pounds and have another 145 or so to go. I've never lost weight this quickly before - in the past I've only lost about 1 pound a week. I'm wondering if weight loss tends to continue this quickly, or if it starts slowing down after a while. I'd be really interested to hear the experiences of people who also have a lot to lose.

It slows down, but there are always things you can do to encourage it to keep at a steady rate, like switching your exercise, drinking more water, moving up the rungs of OWL, and things like that.

For me, the first 141 were pretty okay (much faster than I would have expected), it was the last 12 that I really wanted to pull my hair out with... and then I fell off the wagon and need to lose about 50.

It slows down. But, it slows down worse if you yo-yo with this diet.
I agree with the idea of mixing things up a bit. Right now I'm trying 6-7 mini meals a day, which is supposed to keep your metabolism revved.

I can't speak from experience *yet* myself, however I had a friend who lost 80 on Atkins, and around the 5th month he stalled for like 3 weeks and decided to trick himself by pigging out on carbs for a weekend and then went back on Atkins, he gained 5 but sure enough, as soon as he went back on Atkins he dropped it and then was able to keep going without a stall. Not that I recommend that, but if you hit a really long long period of time, who knows.
