    Happy weekend everyone!

Well today is the official end of my second week of Atkins, and overall I've lost 10.2 lbs. I'm excited about that and I (and others) have already noticed changes in my body, but it is also a little disheartening at the same time because that means since a week ago this past Thursday I haven't lost any lbs according to my scale. I try to stay positive though because I know it isn't weight loss according to just the scale that counts. I feel better, I have more energy, it's all great!

One question I have which some of you might be able to answer relates to the scale that I use. I have a Tanita BF-679W scale. I love it, I think they are so cool. Not only does it tell you your weight, it also tells you both your body fat % and your body water %. Now my question relates to how accurate those measurements are. I tried looking on the internet but every website I found relating to scales that also take your body fat % and/or body water % all seemed to link back to the Tanita website, so I took that with a grain of salt. Anyone know how accurate these scales are? The main reason I ask is because while my weight in lbs hasn't moved since a week ago Thursday, the Body Fat % is shrinking...according to the scale, since I started 2 weeks ago it has gone down almost 5 percentage points! If 5% is the +/- on it though it isn't quite as exciting as I might initially have thought.

Either way I'm happy with the progress. Still at least a couple more weeks of Induction for me.

Hope everyone is having a great, low carb Saturday! And don't forget to set your clocks forward and hour tonight because Daylight Savings comes tomorrow at 2am!

Good morning Ryan and fellow lowcarbers

Ryan*~sorry I can't help you out with the scale question...but congratulations on your weight loss. From my experience these past 3 weeks I can tell you I pretty much lost my initial 14 lbs from induction the first week. I kinda got discouraged the second week but heck my pants were almost falling off me. So I knew that just because the scale wasn't showing it, something good was happening. I always try to remember that losing weight with lowcarbing is just a side effect to getting my body healthy with non-carb laddened foods.

Thanks for the encouragement Tutti! And I know what you mean. This week I fit into a pair of shorts that I haven't been able to wear for a long while, so I know that it is working even if the scale says my weight is the same...it's just that for some reason our minds get wrapped up in that stupid number that pops up on the scale.

Good morning Ryan, Tutti, and all CC'ers
Congratulations on your 10.2 pounds gone forever Ryan! As far as the scale question, I don't have a clue. I know one thing though, when the scale doesn't move the tape measure becomes a better friend. Did you measure? If not, get that tape measure out and measure your body at least once a month or every 2 weeks. It's fun to watch the tape measure shrink around your body and keep track of inches lost. I kept a journey board when I lost my 142 pounds. I have a picture, weight and measurements on it for each month of my weightloss.
When you're working out and losing weight, you're building muscle. So even though you may not be seeing much result at times on the scale, you will on the tape measure.
Also, when moving up to Rung 1 veggies, you're just adding on 1 more cup of veggies (5 grams net carbs)from either list and most likely will get the scale moving even faster. It's more fiber as well and does the body good. Just a thought.
One more thing. As you adventure on in your weightloss journey you will begin to see a weightloss pattern that is only specific to you. Everyone is different. I have journaled my entire journey and have written down everything I have eaten, what I weighed, inches lost, stalls...etc. I realized that when I would stall it gave my body a chance to catch up to the weightloss, by losing the inches. You will find a similar pattern in your own weightloss. Just know that when the scale isn't moving that there is so much more going on inside you're body than just seeing results on the scale. Especially, that your blood chemistry is getting so much healthier. A healthier blood chemistry is just as, if not, more important than just the weightloss. What goes on inside your body is a reflection on what the outside looks like.
Atkins is a whole package deal. Weightloss and you get healthier internally!
Wishing everyone an awesome Atkins Saturday!
        Love ya, Sherri
Again, congratulations on the pounds gone forever.

Re: Roll Call March 7, 2009

          Good morning, CCers !

I haven't been able to get on ADBB for the last couple days. I was so frustrated, but at least it's back up.

Ryan, congrats on your success so far. Each person is different in how they lose weight. For me I tend to lose steadily for awhile and then there will be a 10 day period where I don't lose anything and then all of a sudden I start losing some each day for quite awhile. It's strange.

I'm not sure what to say about the body water and body fat measurements on the scale. I have those options on mine, too (WW scale), but I don't really use them.

It's been about 48 hours since I had my gallbladder removed and I'm still pretty sore. The pain meds help a little. Because of the gas that gets trapped in the abdomen from when they blow it up during surgery I can't lay flat without excruciating pain so I've been sleeping upright. It stinks! I cannot wait to lay down to sleep and rest. Hopefully that'll happen today or tomorrow. We'll see...

I think the board/forum is all fixed now and it's good to be back
