Morning all, I hope you all are having a better weekend than I am. Thanks for all the encouraging words yesterday, and after measuring myself I did notice that I have lost about an inch just around my waist. This morning when I stepped on the scale the numbers finally went down (for a couple days they were going UP ever so slightly. Still trying to work out my issues with weighing myself on a daily basis...damn you scale!)
I wish I could say things here are happy, but they are not. Yesterday was a really bad day at my house. We had a 4 year old German Shepherd named Sadie. She was a total sweetheart, a little high strung, but a danger to nobody. Anyways, she got out of the backyard yesterday afternoon and saw a little girl at the end of the block playing in the street, so she went running with a ball in her mouth towards the little girl. This little girl has to be between the ages of 6 and 8, so she isn't all that big, and Sadie was a massive, muscular 85 lbs dog. Anyways, Sadie runs down the street to go play with the girl and knocked her over. The little girls ended up with a few scratches on her back. Her father went inside, got a gun, and shot my dog three times. Two bullets severed her spinal cord between the neck and shoulder blades, and the third bullet punctured and collapsed her left lung, leaving her to bleed internally. We rushed her to the 24 hour animal hospital where they stabilized her around 6:30pm. The vet was cautious about her condition but said her chances of surviving was at about 50/50. Around midnight we got a call from the vet saying that the swelling in her spinal cord wasn't going down and she had no feeling in any of her four legs. Chances of being paralyzed for the rest of her life were about 95%. Knowing that, we really had no choice but to have her euthanized.
So, as you can see this weekend hasn't exactly been the happy weekend we all hope for. In advance I thank you all for any well wishes and the continued support, whether with weight loss or just the day to day that you give. This might seem to be just a support group for people on Atkins, but I have already seen that this is so much more and I thank you all for that.
Hope you are feeling better Clogger!

(((Ryan)))) I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how our critters become family members.
