    Re: 3/10 Tuesday Roll Call

Good morning Chicklady and all CC'ers. It's just about 4 am here and I have not been able to sleep. I forgot to check in yesterday morning before we headed out to my daughter's orthodontist appt. We ended up spending most of the day in Borders bookstore afterwards. It's nice they let you sit and read books without actually have to buy them. And yup we finally seen some snow. It wasn't enough to stick and it kept going from snow to rain then snow again then finally back to rain. I have been having a hard time the past few days with hunger issues. After the first week of induction my appetite went down, now lately I am feeling hungry alot again . I know we don't have to really count calories but I am wondering what is the range I should be looking at if I was counting? I am only 5'1" and weigh now at 314. That's ALOT of me. Anyone maybe have a ball park figure in calories? I want to eat to satisfy my hunger but I am afraid of going overboard.
    Have a great day everyone

Good morning, CCers ! I feel about the same today as I did yesterday. If I'm sitting in one place it's not bad, but when I get up to move around I get some crazy pains in my upper abdomen. I'm not sure if the pain is from the incision, something inside, or both.

Tutti, Georgiana posted the following in another post this morning about total calories:

Depends on your height, weight, metabolism, level of activity, etc. You can find an approximate number based on your BMR and AMR. Something about this here:

          Re: 3/10 Tuesday Roll Call

Morning all! I posted results of my first week of induction on STAC board...but a small recap here...I'm down 7 lbs so far...I've passed the hump of induction, so no more flu, cravings or general hunger. My biggest issue might actually be not eating ENOUGH...I'm not clear if I need to actually worry about that or not. According to Fitday I need to be eating about 2900 calories or so...I'm getting about 1200-1500 although there are days where there are more.

It's amazing how much fewer calories you consume when you simply cut out 100 calorie packs and pasta.

I'm currently on day 9...anticipating rung 1 of the ladder next week....have no clue what I will add that will be any different from this week. Hmmmm.....

          Started: 3/2/09

          ~280~270~260~250~240~230~220~210~200~190

          Realistic Final Goal: 190
          Stretch Goal: 140

Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

Thank you Kristine! I am so glad you posted that link. Now I don't feel guilty and worried at night. I have definetly been eating okay then. Even when I had a bit too much to eat the other night I was still okay calorie wise. Have been doing well with my 65-30-5 ratio too, which I think I still stick to being on extended induction. I am sorry about your pain. I sure hope that goes away soon

              Re: 3/10 Tuesday Roll Call

Good morning everyone! I finally figured out I just needed to check in on roll call... I was a little confused. I'm a little air-headed at times though, what can I say.

I have a slight addiction with stepping on the scale, which is such a bummer when it fluctuates so much. I think since my addiction to food is starting to slowly ease up, maybe my addiction to the scale is becoming my substitute.

              Hugs,

                  Hi Avery,

I too am addicted to my scale there are a few of us here who love our scales, no worries you're not alone!!!!

I use to weigh myself 2 x a day (once in the morning and once at night) now I just weigh myself once in the morning. For me, it helps me stay on track and focussed.

                    Ryan,

I tried out the Jillian Michaels DVD called "Banish Fat Boost Metabolism" this morning for my workout...what a killer!!!! (We were talking about this during cc roll call yesterday) I managed to make it through the whole thing but had to improvise on a few moves...I'm just thankful I made it through!

Depending how I'm feeling in the morning, I may try the other one I mentioned that I purchased of hers...it's called "No More Trouble Zones". I watched it last night while I was running on my glider (I always watch a new work out DVD at least once before trying it out!) This one incorporates hand weights....seeing how it's early morning, I hope I don't end up dropping one on my head (I've had a few close calls!!!) I'll let you know what I think about this one too.

How's the 30 Day Shred going for you? I may try that one on Friday again.

                    Cheers!

                      Re: 3/10 Tuesday Roll Call

Avery, I'm a slave to the scale, too. What I do - right or wrong - is once I hit a new low number on the scale that is my weight until I hit a new low number. My weight fluctuates every single day so I always keep the lowest number in the back of my head. As long as I'm following the plan, I know I've worked hard and earned that newest low number and claim that as my weight even if the scale is a little higher the next morning. I NEVER weigh myself unless it's first thing in the morning, in a T-shirt, after I go to the bathroom, and before I drink or eat anything. If the scale is a little higher (and again I'm staying on plan) I most likely didn't gain weight. I'm probably retaining water. For instance, after drinking one tall glass of water (16 oz) I will literally weigh 16 ounces more - 1 pound - on the scale. I didn't "gain" one pound by drinking the water. It's literally water weight.

One morning I woke up, went to the bathroom, and then weighed myself. Then I went back to bed and when I woke up three or four hours later, went to the bathroom again, and weighed myself again I was down 1.5 pounds. That 1.5 pounds was "lost" via breathing and going to the bathroom. Weight is a funny thing (although sometimes it makes me cry - ha ha).

That's how I do it. Maybe I'm crazy, but it works for me !

Kristine...ditch the t-shirt! LOL....that's how I do it. I don't want anything extra on me that can weigh more.

Today was so funny...I got up, went to the bathroom and then weighed myself...I loved the new weight, was so happy! I then took the dog out and brushed my teeth. While I was brushing my cat kept walking on and off the scale and she must have messed it up (it's an older digital kind) cuz I went to weigh myself again to see my beautiful new number and it was 10lbs LESS than 5 minutes earlier. I got off and on the scale 5 more times and kept getting that beautiful 273 number...I was laughing so hard. I know I didn't lose ten pounds in 5 minutes, but it was sure nice to see the number again! Darn cat!

For the record, I messed with the scale some and got it to read my correct weight again...

                          Re: 3/10 Tuesday Roll Call

Hey Sarina, 30 Day Shred is going really well! Last week when I started I had to stop a couple times once it got to the jumping jacks and jump rope in circuit 1 cardio, now I've finally gotten to where I can do the entire 20 minutes without stopping for more than the 5 seconds that Jillian recommends once or twice.

I've been doing it on carpet, but I think I may need to get a mat anyways because I am seriously soaking the carpet with sweat when it comes to those abs workouts! I feel great and I am excited that it is slowly becoming easier to do. I am motivated for the day when I can finally follow Natalie on all the workouts and do it without losing breath.

I do find myself kind of getting pissed off at Jillian every once in a while though, cause she's all like "We're with you in this, I know it's hard"...and I'm there thinking "You don't know...you haven't done 2 minutes worth of workouts this entire video and you haven't shut your mouth the entire time either!"...but I use that as motivation as well. I hope some day to be able to do these workouts and be able to talk to people at the same time. Right now I'm just huffing and puffing and praying to God that I don't fall backwards into the recliner, because if that happens I can almost guarantee I won't be getting back up!

                            (REPOST)
Hi I am new to the forum and I would just like to say hello to everyone. I just started Induction Yesterday and I wanted to get on here for support. I have read a lot of the threads and the support everyone gives is great. Hopefully I can stick with this and lose the weight I want/need to lose to be healthy and active again. I am 30 years old, married to a beautiful wife, and have two gorgeous kids. I am out of shape and I don't want to be a negative role model for my kids anymore. I want to be the dad they look up too. I live in Hawaii. Below are my goals:

Lose 90-100lbs and be able to run 3 miles...

                            Starting weight: 280

                            Goal weight 1: 260
                            Goal weight 2: 240
                            Goal weight 3: 220
                            Goal weight 4: 200
                            Goal weight Final: 180-190

I am shooting for a target date of November 1st to lose this weight. I am planning on beginning a running program to get me up to 3 miles 4 to 5 times a week. Hopefully more as time goes on! I plan on weighing in on every Sunday. I will post my results on here to keep track. I think if I have this site to motivate me I will be even more successful.

NOTE: How do you guys get those tickers on your posts?....

Thank you in advance and congrats to all who have lost weight and got their lives back!

                            God Bless
