  • Do I get booted if I change my goal weight?

    I should loose 100 lbs. My goal is 105, 100 atleast. But I'm not so sure. I am trying to get comfortable with where I am now. I'm happier than I was when I weighed even 10 pounds more. I'm not ready to quit or anything. I am just thinking long and hard about how little I can eat and maintain my goal weight. The more I loose the less pressure I feel to loose more. I think if I loose 10 more pounds, I can fit into a size 12. Sure I'll be fluffy there, but that's where I stayed before I had kids too. I'm not so sure I want to try for actually thin anymore. What if I wake up happy at 145? Can I still hang around here? I mean, I can't actually quit watching my weight ever, so I gotta be somewhere, lol.



    My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

    1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
    2nd mini goal: 140!
    3rd mini goal:135!
    4th mini goal: 130!

    I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

    Why would you get booted? Your goal weight is entirely up to you (and your body--it has a mind of its own). Only you can decide at what weight you feel the best and most comfortable. Whenever you decide you are happy with how you look and feel, it's time to call goal.
    People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

      Thanks! The closer I get to my goal weight the more I worry about it. Before it was just a number. Now its more. I hope I do wake up happy someday and call it! lol



      My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

      1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
      2nd mini goal: 140!
      3rd mini goal:135!
      4th mini goal: 130!

      I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

        I think lots of us change our original goal weights. Mine was 140. I am at 157 now. I have been here for over a month. I refuse to go back to induction just to kick start some more weightloss. So if I stay here at 157 and size 10/12 then I'll be fine with that. I am feeling so much healthier. I exercise daily, mostly yoga but I have begun to do some tae bo and sweatin to the oldies with the kids for fun. I want them to know exercise is a good thing.

        No matter what your goal is, it's YOURS! YOU have to feel good about yourself. Even if you stay where you are weight wise, if you are exercising you will begin to notice your body sculpting into something great. My hubby is always watching my legs and arms because they are very toned and he even commented yesterday that my abs were really starting to show the muscle cutting in! Woo Hoo! I LOVE YOGA!

          i worry about my goal weight to i still have 50 lbs to lose ive lost 35 lbs since january 1st
          i some times think ill never see 190 i was 198 in high school but just think how you fill now compared to how you felt before you started atkins now think of how you are going to fill when you reach your goal i cant imagine hang in there

            I weasle out of excercise every way possible. I've been sick so I haven't been doing my walking even, and I like that. I can't imagine what I'll look like if I hit my goal weight either. I guess now I am looking at ticker saying 32 more pounds and going, Wow! I might get there. And then if I add 10 pounds to my goal weight, I'll get there quicker! heh.

              Hi Rita,

              Noooo, you'd never get booted girl!

              I may have to change my goal weight too.....this happens when we get closer, some times we make our goal weights unrealistic when we first start out...or sometimes we just don't know what it should be and we just pick a number.

              My goal was somewhere between 150 to 160. My doctor wants me at 180...for that to be my goal weight...I think I can do more then that so now I'm looking at anywhere between 150 and 170....but who knows...maybe I'll end up at 155 or 160 or maybe 165. I was 145 once (for a VERY brief period of time) and looked quite sick....so I won't be going there I don't think.

              So no worries, pick a goal weight that your body will be happy and healthy at....that's what this is all about...being fit and healthy!

              April 1, 2008 - 387 lbs. (This is when I initially started to lose weight…but was not on Atkins at this point)
              Atkins start weight – 347 lbs. (July 19, 2008 – began Atkins)
              1st major goal met -----
              100 lbs. lost as of Oct 2, 2008 - Hit 300 lbs. on this day – From April 1-08 when I initially begin to lose weight.

              2nd major goal met - 151 lbs. lost as of Jan 13, 2009 - Hit 249 lbs. on this day.
              Current weight – 225 lbs.
              Goal weight - 150 – 160

                Had to chuckle at your question... we're not the police you know! lol. You're goal wt is completely personal and up to you! I know lots of people who changed their goal wt and are very happy where they are. That's is what's important. Focus on how far you've come!!!! You are so much healthier now! Congratulations!!! It's easy to set unrealistic goals that we can't live with. What we weighed in high school or college may not ever be a good wt for us again. I would love to be that, but it's seriously not possible! lol.

                  We don't want someone in the Century Club that doesn't have 100 pounds to lose, so I will do you the favor of GIVING you 40 pounds of mine

                    Thanks so much! I've been trying to get use to the changes in how I look. I really didn't notice it as it was coming off as much. My family is really annoyed about my looks and body image not matching up. So I am trying to look in the mirror more now. I want to see my marker go to 100 like Chicklady's! But I also want a weight I can maintain without too much suffering. My sister is threating to hook me up to an IV if I try to hit 130. I am surrounded by sabatuers at the moment. Now when a few pounds comes off it shows more and is messing with them too I guess. I have no idea when I'll be at a good weight for me. I guess I'll know when I get there.

                      I'm struggling with the goal weight too because I've been trying so hard to lose 9 lbs to get to my goal, which is actually high for someone as short as I am. But I seem to have hit a setpoint and can't get past it so was thinking of just staying here although I know I would be happier losing those last few pounds.

                      I think we must all have to suffer through this because those last ones are the hardest to lose.

                        Jeesh ... after years of being around this board, if anyone is expecting me to get to my "dream goal weight", keep tapping those fingernails and tapping that toe ... it isn't going to happen and I'm delighted to be right where I am!

                        We work hard on our health until we see results that make us happy and healthy. Getting "hung up" on the "number" is not a healthy place.
