  • Question from my wife

My wife weights about 180 lbs. She is trying to loose 40 lbs. we are both eating the same foods, and she is walking, and she is not loosing weight. She has been on induction for almost 3 weeks but she lost a couple lbs at first and nothing since. She is frustrated and ready to give up. any help?

There is the obvious weight difference, so if she is eating exactly the same stuff as you, she may be overeating. Your BMR rate is much higher being a guy (yeah!) and heavier that even though one should not count Calories on Induction, it should give an indicator when one is hitting satisifaction. Being closer to her goal, she may need to exercise more often or with greater intensity (add weights to walking or faster). There could be a few reasons why this is happening. Have her post some menu's with amounts, and perhaps some of other more wiser members than I could see why this is happening.

PS -- you could always tell her the lead admin here, Betty, had the same no loss during the first 14 day experience and went on to have a very successful weight loss.

Has she read the book too? Is she drinking her water, etc? Maybe there is a carb creep between meals or something, or she's eating not from the acceptable food list not at meal time if she hasn't read the book. Just a thought. If she has, well..nevermind!

She is 3 weeks into the program and experiencing the same phenom every dieter on every weight loss plan ever created has. I call it the post induction hesitation in scale number loss. Ask her to check her measurements she should still be seeing inches of fat melting off even when the scale doesn't move.
Because of complicated biochem reasons our bodies as they burn off the fat molecules plump the tissues with fluids to maintain shape but the fluid is denser then the fat so inches go whaile scale numbers don't as we morph our bodies. then we have the new exercise muscle load and fluid added there too and we have that new muscle tissue her body is building in response to the new exercise program all those mass changes which are good and healthy do not give a scale number change as it can only measure the force of gravity upon the total mass.

She is shrinking andgetting healthy but this is the point in all diets were the dieter says it has stopped working for me and quits. Tell her to make friends with her tape measure for that positive feedback she seems to need when the scale will not validate her hard work she had done working her Atkins.

        Happy low carbing.
