  • My Gallbladder Has To Go!

Yep the doctor called today with the results of my HIDA scan. It's got to go. Although the liver looks great and the gallbladder is not that bad, it is not functioning as it should. It is at 24%. Most people I have talked to have been at 13% or lower but with my family history, (mother, sister, nephew) and my problems with digesting fat and certain vegetables getting worse, my doctor said do it now.

I have an appointment next Tuesday with the Surgeon and will find out then when the surgery will be. Maybe I'm nuts, but I am actually looking forward to getting this done. I want to feel good again, and I definitely need to go back on induction!

Good luck with the surgery Jeanne. Hope it does help exactly as you expect, that you feel so much better afterwards. My dad is having the same surgery later this spring (no date set yet) due to the gallstones.

I had a gall bladder attack once and I swore I was dying from a heart attack! They are so painful. I'm sure you are thankful to have the bothersome thing removed! LOL We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts, and make sure to let us know how you are doing as soon as you can.

I had mine removed years ago, due to gallstones. Afterwards I had a lot of heartburn, but a few months of Pepcid AC took care of that. Now I don't miss it at all.

I wish you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery.

I had my gall bladder removed about 25 years ago, and never had any more problems after that. Good luck, and speedy recovery....you'll feel great after.

Seems to be a very popular surgery today. I think it can even be done Laproscopically smaller incision!!!! but surgery is still surgery and hard on our nerves.

GOOD LUCK! We will all send good thoughts your way...keep us posted!

Okay....here's my weird thought about this...

How much does a gall bladder weigh?? Because you'll be that much lighter when you heal!! Not that I'm advocating removing body parts in order to lose pounds.....

I'm thinking positive thoughts for a quick recovery!!!
