I was wondering... your guy has been gone for five months now. Is he on a six month deployment or a year deployment? Is he able to contact you regularly?

    Hi Dawn~

The short answer is that I don't know. He's in Army Intelligence, so they understandably don't share a lot of information. Before he was deployed, he said that the Army was "holding their cards closer to their chest" on this than they normally did. They did tell him that these types of assignments can last only six months, but more commonly 9 to 12 months. Last month I had a dream that we kissed while watching fireworks on July 4, so I'm hoping that my dream was a sign that he'll be back by then. I don't know where he is, other than he's out of the line of fire and someplace "that doesn't exist".

At first, he emailed me every other week or so. However, I haven't gotten any emails from him since Christmas. I've felt him and our connection many times, and he's visited me through my dreams. I know he's safe, he misses me, he's frustrated at the lack of contact and that he's right in the middle of whatever he's doing.

    Thanks for caring!! :hug

    ~JoAnne

Joanne - you and all women whose man are serving are performing such a great service. Tell me the truth (since I am still contemplating putting myself in a position again to be called), how rough has it been for you? Would you stop a friend who was considering doing it to their special somone?

JoAnne--I know it's hard. I'm glad you feel strongly his connection to you. That would be the hardest, the not knowing and not being able to have contact.

Kent--there are women over there too ya know? (LOL!) My friend Peggy just got back after a year in Iraq (stationed near the airport). She says it's surreal being home, like she's still over there dreaming of being back here. She left her hubby (who's also in the service) here with her 3 girls. She missed some significant milestones in their lives. AND NOW, her hubby Mike is being sent over in June for a year (or so). I have a whole new appreciation of what is involved in that service from Peggy.

And JoAnne, I was scared quite a few times when my friend Peggy and I were talking on-line and she would type "we're being shelled, I have to go" and then be off-line for 3-5 days so not having heard from Christopher since Christmas would be quite frustrating at the very BEST. BIG HUGE :hug :hug :hug to you.

JoAnn.....I'm keeping you in my thoughts and praying that Christopher is back with you by July so the two of you can make some fireworks of your own. LOL I can't imagine how hard it must be to wait patiently with no word since Christmas. You are one strong lady! Hang in there, and hopefully he will be home soon.

I can't lie Kent...It's been extremely difficult. Part of that is because a few days before he left, we'd decided that our relationship was serious, then out of the blue he's shipped off. Another part of the difficulty is that we both thought we'd be in contact much more than we actually are. But depite all the worrying and the tears, I wouldn't change anything. Christopher is doing what he loves. Asking him to give it up for me would be asking him to change who he is, and I couldn't do that. He needs to do what he feels is the right thing, and I'll do whatever I can to support him in his dreams, and be there for him. He's a special and wonderful person, the perfect fit for me, and waiting for him is worth it. I'm afraid that I don't have any advice for you Kent....other than pointing out that you need to live with the decisions you make, so make your decision one that you can live with. While I don't want anyone else in harm's way, I certainly understand that some men and women have the need to help, and I respect that and support them in all they do.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers everyone!!! Hopefully I'll be posting a big "HE'S HOME!!" post soon.
