  • Celebrate Accomplishments!!!

So once upon a time I was very overweight, felt helpless, didn't see the point of this plan and didn't understand why it would work when it hadn't before. And all I could do is think about how long could I sustain this. But then the changes occur. Tell us about at least one change that has occurred as you have lost weight. Give a little hope to those who need it tonight!!! Pay it forward!

    1. For me, I could barely sit behind the wheel of the car. Now, I have to pull the seat way up.
    2. I can walk 6 miles and swim laps. When I started here, I could walk about 20-30 feet and rest and splash in a pool.
    3. Medically, I am so much improved. Gone from taking insulin twice a day and three oral diabetic meds, hypertensive meds to only a thyroid replacement an a cholesterol lowering agent (cholesterol is normal ... family history indicates continuing this).
    4. And I can do my own pedicures!!!!

How has life changed for you? ...

Well, I only went from 235, to 154 lbs, I'm currently 165. I can shop at more stores for clothes because I CAN FIT INTO A LARGE!!! I'm a girl, this is big! I took my kids swimming at an amusement park and put on a bathing suit and swam without a cover up over it! Okay and a big thing, the private and very adult side, can I just say, WOW! Who knew I could bend and twist that way, hehehe! Well, somebody had to say it.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

    1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
    2nd mini goal: 140!
    3rd mini goal:135!
    4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.

I use to have a lot of problems with my feet, ankles, and knees. I almost forgot how much because now they hardly ever act up. I noticed my knees don't swell and I don't hobble around all stiff when I've been sitting awhile. Hey my left ankle is tucked under my right thigh as I write this, so I am HEALED or I'd be cursing myself for doing it.

          Re: Celebrate Accomplishments!!!

I haven't lost as much as either of you but I have noticed these things:

I have much more stamina for exercise (something I considered a dirty word and a sin before), and I can tell how much I've eaten (or not eaten) just by the way my body feels.

I can see my feet when I stand up -- that is major to me!

I am starting to see a dent in on my sides (some call it a waist) where I use to dent out.

The bone spurs I had so much trouble with don't bother me and I'm able to mow the lawn again.

I've gone from a 3X top to a Large and the size 18 elastic top jeans are loose on me.

I carry my weight in my midsection so that's where I have lost the most inches but it's also where I still have the most inches to loose.

After an accident last weekend I have a new resolve and am happily back into keotsis as of today. I had been stuck (my fault not the plan) for quite awhile but now I'm ready mentally to move on.

              Great thread Irish!

For me, there are many accomplishments. Here are ten-
              My health for one.
1). I reversed my Type-2 Diabetes within 47 days into Extended Induction. Never to return to this day.
2). I can drive my husbands Ford Ranger now. When he bought it, I couldn't fit behind the steering wheel. Lots of room now.
3). I went from a size 4X (64) to a size large (16). I'm back to the same size I was in high school.
4). I can sleep on my back! I've never been able to do that.
5). I can fit into an airplane seat and not ask for an extension. Also, resteraunt booths are no problem now.
6). Went to Disneyland and was able to ride all the rides. I fit!
7). I can reach all parts of my body. Sorry TMI, lol.
. I no longer have mood swings or anxiety attacks, which were a daily occurance Pre-Atkins.
9). I now know what it means to live life, rather than, watch it from the side lines.
!0). Shopping for clothes is an enjoyable event, rather than grabbing whatever fits, I can be pretty picky now and actually love what i'm wearing.

                Re: Celebrate Accomplishments!!!

Sherri - When we recently bought a new car, I had anxiety about fitting behind the wheel for a test drive. It is that same anxiety that I have when I walk into a restaurant and they lead me to a booth or a chair doesn't look sturdy. I've been there and very happy not to be there anymore!

And the diabetes reversal is a dream come true. For that reason alone, I wish I had started Atkins years ago, but I'm happy to no longer require any insulin or the oral meds I once took. THE FREEDOM!!!!!!!

How about fitting into a booth at a restaurant, moving down from plus size to regular, being able to look down and actually SEE that you have feet, being able to get up from the floor without humiliating yourself, playing with your children for as long as they want you and most important...sitting indian style!
