  • What are you eating?

Hi everyone. I am planning on starting induction tomorrow. I did Atkins a couple of years ago with great success, but after a couple of babies, a couple of Weight Watchers stints, and a bunch of pounds, I am so ready to feel good again and get back on my low carb journey.

I was wondering if you all could post a typical menu for you (doesn't have to be induction)...just so I could get some ideas.

    Thanks so much!!

    Re: What are you eating?

During induction, the first phase of Atkins, we are limiting our food selections to the List of the Acceptable Foods for Induction in order to switch to a "fat burning" metabolism rather than the typical "carbohydrate burning".

Menu development is best done by reviewing the List and the Rules of Induction to your own likes and needs.

Typical for me with induction was:

Breakfast: 2 eggs with 1/4 cup of mushrooms cooked in EVOO and butter with some diced up ham, cup of black coffee.

Lunch: Tuna fish with mayonaise, 1 cup of raw spinach with ranch dressing.

Dinner: 4 - 6 ounce Hamburger with cheese OR haddock OR steak OR pork, small salad with lettuce and cucumbers and steamed cauliflower & broccoli OR zuchinni with butter.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

      Re: What are you eating?

I have quiche for breakfast every weekday morning, eggs&bacon or an omelette on the week-ends. For dinners, I grill meat & steam veggies or make a recipe from Linda's site. Lunch is leftovers or salad with meat. I rarely snack, but when I do its usually an ounce of cheese.

I agree with Irish, review the list, see what you like & plan meals around that.

        Re: What are you eating?

I usually have eggs and either bacon or sausage for breakfast...sometimes waffles with the oopsie recipe.

For lunch, it's usually leftovers from dinner the night before.

Dinner tonight is the chimichanga recipe with chorizo sausage and a salad.

          Re: What are you eating?

This morning I had 2 eggs, 2 ounces of colored peppers, 1 ounce of green peppers made into an omelet with 1 ounce of cheddar cheese (1/2 inside and 1/2 on top).

Lunch was a salad with leftover chicken breast from last night.

Dinner: Ribeye with a pat of butter on top, salad and mixed veggies grilled (zucchini, snap peas & broccoli)

            Re: What are you eating?

I often have chicken salad (homemade, chicken, mayo, celery) and spinach for breakfast as I'm not a big egg fan. When I do have eggs, its scrambled with cheese, and then a side of tomato slices.

Lunch is often a hamburger patty and broccoli or green beans or a salad

Dinner is turkey, chicken or beef of some sort, and a veggie such as broccoli, cauliflower, green beans or some other random vegetable to change things up (squash, brussel sprouts, cabbage, coleslaw) and or a salad. If eating out, I'll have wings (yum!) if available or some combo of this.

Snacks are cheese, almonds or berries with a little cream. I'm careful with dairy as too much stalls me so I skipped that rung.

Occasional glass of wine or beer.
