I just had to share what happened to me last night. My husband and I got out our bikes for the first time in 6 months, and went on a ride. I told him my seat was too high, and my feet couldn't touch the ground, at all, and that if I had to stop suddenly for some reason, I was probably gonna go over the handle bars. Let me add that I'm a little clumbsy and lack coordination, and I'm a big wimp. LOL Well, apparently, he didn't believe be, because he wouldn't adjust my seat, and argued with me that that's how it's supposed to be, so I can fully extend my leg when riding, blah blah blah. OK, whatever. So we're riding along, do de do de doo, and everything is just hunky dory. It's starting to get dark, so we decide to go back. We're going thru our parking lot, back to our apartment, when suddenly, out of no where, a car starts to reverse, and he apparently can't see me. I slam on my brakes, and try to put my foot on the ground to stop me from getting hit, and I miraculously went over the handle bars and landed face down, on the pavement, and then was almost hit by another car passing by, because now, I'm laying in the middle of the parking lot. Luckily I didn't smash my face. Only my arm left arm and ribcage are bruised. I told my husband that if I could have touched the ground, to stop myself, I wouldn't have flown off my bike and onto the pavement. He still doesn't believe me. Grrr

Better yet, if you have a really hunky good-looking male neighbor tell him you are going to ask him to adjust the seat for you. Hope you feel better soon and glad you didn't get smooshed because DH wouldn't listen to you. Men...can't live with em, can't shoot em!

OMG! you must have been so freaked! I can't believe your DH isn't begging you to forgive him for being such a !@#@!!#. I agree with everyone else. Do not wait for him to fix your bike. Fix it yourself, ask a friend or take it to a shop. :yes

Obviously your DH isnt the master cyclist he pretends to be. You aren't supposed to fully extend your leg when you are riding.... if you are.. your seat is too high.. duh..lol.. you should always have a slight bend in your leg. Maybe you should go to a bike shop and talk to professionals.. bring your hubby so they can tell him too!! Glad you are OK!Start 11/02/04 27yr old 5'7 SW308/CW293/GW175

OMG! I beleive we are married to the same man! I tell DH to replace the stairs, he knows better, the stairs break, I get hurt. And thats just one example! :yikes
I am so glad that you didn't get squished by the car and become a speed bump! Take care of yourself and heal :hug
As for your bike, take it to the shop and have it done right (and while I was there, I'd ask about DH's reason for keeping the seat high, see if a professional says the same thing!)
