  • 20 reasons to not eat high carb foods

Two nights of bad choices so today I must do penitence as I glue my butt back on the wagon.

    High carb meals and snacks:

    1. feed my cravings for more
    2. do not satisfy my hunger
    3. cause high blood sugar that will damage my capilaries and will lead to blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and amputations.
    4. cause weight gain that will undue all of my hard work
    5. cause mood swings that make me difficult to live with and not very nice to be around
    6. make me feel like crap for hours and sometimes days afterwards
    7. cause insomnia
    8. make me depressed
    9. lead to overeating which is uncomfortable and sometimes painful
    10. cause nausia
    11. cause diarhea, cramps, and gas
    12. makes me moody
    13. makes my mind feel fussy instead of sharp and clear
    14. causes high blood sugar that can blur my vision
    15. causes high blood sugar that can cause me to sweat excessively
    16. causes high blood sugar that can make me drowzy
    17. forces me to take more medication to control my high blood sugar
    18. destroys my motivation and leads to more poor choices
    19. makes me feel like a failure
    20. takes away my hope for a shrinking tape measure and falling scale.

Boy that was a real cold shower of reality. I'm back on induction and I'm staying here!

              Thank you!

I REALLY needed to see this because I've been on a manic food rage since Saturday. I don't know what's wrong with me but all I craved was chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. And maybe some chocolate!

Hormones are apparently a mess, but that's not an excuse to screw up.

Thanks again for slapping me in the face :whip

I'm glad you all found my punishment as helpful as I did.

AMBI: A bunch of my reasons are based on the fact that I have type II diabetes but if you want to print out the list and keep it please do. I think I'm going to post it on my fridge!

Jackie...have you tried "blobs"?? You mix up some cream cheese, cocoa powder and splenda (I use DaVinci syrup instead), then drop it by spoonfulls onto something, then freeze them. When that horrible chocolate craving hits, suck on one of them. It really does help.....

I just tried to post a thank you to softnred but it didn't work.

Thank you! If the cravings don't disappear soon, I'll have to run to the store and make a batch.

                      Question:

Does anyone ever have their legs "crawl" when they eat carbs? My legs get all nervy-extra-sensitive when I eat carbs and it really bugs the heck out of me...

Color that four shades of "another reason to kick bad carbs to the curb"

Cleo....OMG, my legs used to do that every night. I just read your post and realized I haven't had that crawly leg sensation in a long time. It never even crossed my mind that it had disappeared since I went low-carb! Just one more thing to add to the long, long list of benefits of this WOL. LOL

I am SO glad it wasn't just me, Cathy! It is a freaky sensation. The last time I slipped up and ate something I wasn't supposed to, I laid in bed smacking my legs to get them to 'shut up' so I could go to sleep. It was like the nerve endings were going nuts!

I have hypoglycemia, so our symptoms can be very similar sometimes.
