  • Looking back over the past year

Today I've been evaluating all my blessings. Of course the ADBB is one of the biggest blessings in my life. I know without the motivation, inspiration and friendship from all of you, my journey to health and happiness this past year wouldn't have happened.

I've tried my whole life to lose weight. Everytime something happened in my life, I looked for comfort or happiness in food. This past year I learned what it is like to really have friends you can depend on and share your feelings with. I've met people here who understand and have the same fears and frustrations that I have.

This WOE is a habit with me now. I no longer crave high-carb foods. Exercise has become my friend - not my enemy. I look forward to walking, swimming, doing weights and exercises. And, as I think of all my friends...I realize that Atkins has opened up a whole new world for me.

Everyone here is like family to me. I think about you all the time. I am thankful for the advice that you offer. If any of you are having some problems in your life, I pray for you and think about you during the day. I hurry here everyday to see what is going on and make sure my 'Atkins friends' are okay.

Through exercising I've met some wonderful people who live by me. I know all the people who go to the gym. We joke with one another and although we are all on different weight and exercise plans, we're also like a family. We respect each other and share in each other's triumphs.

I've also stepped out of my comfort zone and into the world of life. I was always afraid of rejection and redicule before. I still don't like it, but I take risks. I've allowed people into my world and no longer stay at home and feel sorry for myself. I am having fun.

When I first started Atkins, I was embarrassed when people made rude remarks about Dr. Atkins and his weight-loss plan. I was unsure of myself and whether this would work. I am no longer afraid to speak up and defend my WOL. I share what I am doing with anyone who asks and have helped others who have started doing Atkins.

ADBB has become a habit. I start my morning by coming here and I end my day by coming here. I can only imagine how hard it was for the first Atkineers who didn't have the internet to stay motivated and inspired. We are very lucky that we can find support 24/7. Ok, I am done. Sorry this is so long.

Becky: What a great post! You truly are an inspiration to all of us. Losing 100 pounds is just the exterior of your success. You've managed to re-do yourself from the inside out and, to me, that's the real testament of success. Congratulations and I can't wait for the day that you're posting your GOALIE stats. Knowing you, it won't be too far in the future.
