This may be a silly question to some people, but has anyone flown Delta recently?? I have a window seat reserved on the exit row, so I was wondering just how tight the seatbelt and seat are going to be. Am going on my trip in 3 weeks, so hopefully I will have lost a couple more lbs and inches by then, but still nervous.

Hi Luv,
I flew Delta last September. I weighed 274 and am 5’5â€. The seatbelt fit fine, however (I am a little hippy) I had a hard time with the armrest. I could put it down, but it would rise up when I moved around. I was really paranoid about my flight so I made sure to reserve a seat that had an empty seat beside it. I checked during the week and the night before my flight someone had reserved the seat right next to mine!!!! So I changed my reservation to the other side of the plane. I ended up having a whole row to myself, which was great. If I have to sit next to someone for 5 hours, it would have been uncomfortable. I then had to take a connector to a smaller airport and that plane was really a tight fit. Luckily the person who was going to sit next to me in that flight, sat in an empty row.
So I think you may be ok, depends on your body type. Just keep an eye on your reservation and move to an empty row (maybe in the back) where people might be less likely to sit.
A few pounds/inches do make a big difference in those little seats.
Try not to worry, but also try to plan ahead!

Thanks for the info. I read your post about Southwest the other day and when you referred to your Delta trip, some how I thought you meant that you paid for an extra seat so no one would be next to you...but you just clarified that you just reserved a seat by itself (at the time of your reservation). I'm traveling on off days so I'm hoping that I will be able to "spread out" a little bit. When I travel with my children it is really nice because I just raise the armrest and have extra room....I'm pretty sure though that a stranger is not going to want to snuggle with me like my kids do! LOL
Thanks for the info. I'm going to try not to be nervous and just relax and enjoy my trip. The flight is not that long, so I'm just going to hope that I have kind people around me.

The last time I flew Delta was 4 days BEFORE I lost all the weight, so I was well over 400 pounds at the time. It was not that bad for me. In fact, Delta always got the kind to big guys award from me for how I was treated and how much room I usually had on any of their main flights. The other good thing about Delta is that the center aisle seats inner arm rest generally raises to the aisle, which was a God send.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Flying Delta
I just flew to Chicago on Delta. I'm 5'4", 275 and am always miserable flying! I know I'm overly self-conscious but am still miserable nonetheless. I was told that if you need an extender that you can't sit in the exit row so that's an FYI. Luckily I was moved to a window seat where there was no one beside me! The return flight was half empty so we were very spread out. Not good for the financial health of Delta but I was happier. 0
My two cents.

Hey.....saw this moved up so I thought I would add my two cents. I just flew from Reno to Baltimore on United...and while I was tightly smashed in the seat if the arm rests were down.. I didn't have trouble with the seat belt which was nice. Not to say that I was comfy...but I got lucky all of one leg of my trip and always had an empty seat next to me which was a godsend. When you check in for your flight..you can always change your seat assignment so check and see if they are any non full aisles. You'll definitely thank yourself once you have that extra elbow *and butt* room.Start 11/02/04 27yr old 5'7 SW308/CW293/GW175

I just flew American and was moderately comfortable for a two hour flight. I was in a seat with a person of "size" next to me and we weren't crammed in too terribly bad. The armrests went down and I was able to put the seatbelt on (which was a definite improvement from some of my past flights!!!!). I couldn't twist and turn in the seat or anything, but it wasn't like being wedged in, either.
I'm flying overseas in July and I'm already worried about that. Six or seven hours is going to be a lot more dodgy than two. I'm hoping to have gained a lot more wiggle room by then.Kim

This thread is still going...I too get stressed about flights...
As far as the international flight, I flew to Romania a few years ago and I was about 210. The flight there was fine, but the flight back...I barely fit in the seat at 210 lbs. There is no way I would have fit in now at 260 and I was next to a child.
Has anyone else had more trouble with international flights?
