Well, it's day five, I'm down 6 lbs, and I failed. My wife brought home some delicious turtle brownies. I couldn't help myself. I'm ashamed and embarrassed.

    Re: failed

If your wife knows you are on Atkins and knows how important it is to you to lose weight, you may have to ask her to hide the treats she buys until your resolve is greater than it is. Cheats can be slippery slopes for many of us. Hopefully you can just drink a lot of water and don't use this cheat as an excuse to have another and another. You are doing so well. Congratulations on your weight loss!

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

      Re: failed

Get right back on the program.

When I've cheated, I try and look and see what happened and why and see what I can do to address the situation differently the next time. One cheat is not worth all the progress I've made thus far. Repeat this every day and it will be easier to turn down temptations.

The longer I do Atkins, the easier it is to resist things.

      Good luck!

        Re: failed

Your wife should be helpful enough to keep all food out of sight you aren't eating. If she isn't helping it's going to be harder for you. I live with 2 adults who are not eating Atkins so I know it can be difficult, but I had to make the decision not to eat the junk I was eating before -- it wasn't getting me anywhere except into larger clothing and less healthy.

You posted last weekend you went out drinking and to the Pizza place ... you really need to figure out how badly you want to continue to do the things you do now or if you want to loose weight and keep it off.

        Good luck
        Carole

              Re: failed

You didn't fail, it states in the book in all that we will learn, one of them will be what we call "cheating" and getting right back on plan. That takes strength and sometimes is a learned thing. You can do it. So you had some brownies.....remember how it made you feel (not so good and like a failure) and learn from it and move on...you can do it!

Just restart it and try not to cheat again, once you are in ketosis, its easier as your not hungry

                  Re: failed

Oh Sugar...we all fail at some point or another. All you can do is get back on track. Forgive yourself and keep on going with the full knowledge that it may happen again. When/if it does, you pick yourself back up again and get back on plan.

                    Re: failed

I was on induction for 3 weeks before and the first time I cheated for a social weekend. During that time I lost around 11 Lbs. From 335 to 324. I'm one of the People who weighs myself every Morning. Well, I bounced between 324- 326 all week long. Now I've been doing Induction for this week and I once again am bouncing back and forth from 324-326. I wonder if maybe I've hit a stall point.

                        Re: failed

It isn't a "stall point". Be honest with yourself. You cheated. The way to lose weight on Atkins is to do it by the book and quit cheating yourself. You worked hard to lose weight. Don't blow it by telling yourself that your cheats are allowed. That will be the kiss of death on Atkins.
