    Good Afternoon Sarina,

And to the rest of you that join us later! Cool but pretty day today, at least it is still dry unlike the last month of Raintober, I mean October. But the rest of the week looks dreary and rainy again. Still nice for this time of year.

      Hi everyone,

It is SUPER nice here for November...we'd usually have snow staying on the ground by now, but it is gorgeous out!

Re: CC Roll Call ~ Sun, Nov 15-09

Evening all - tired but on plan, and I'm pretty sure no walking is getting done today unless I get some energy surge later tonight... which given my night owl inclinations, isn't totally out of the question ;-)

I actually went and looked back through my notes earlier this weekend, and since I got serious several months ago and read the book and started posting questions instead of guessing, I have eaten exactly three things that were off plan. And ALL of those things were from work - once was given a miniature peanut butter cup by a well meaning co-worker, once was handed a miniature chocolate bar by a person handing out Halloween treats, and once had a cupcake left on my desk during a celebratory week. Each time, I carefully weighed the possible effects and projected the potential carbs of the item in question and choose to go ahead and eat them, counted the carbs in my daily counts, and except in the cupcake instance, still managed to stay in my carb level for the day. Cut back carbs the day after the cupcake to make up for the 20 or so extra I had that day. Everything else I have been offered at work, at restaurants, at friend's houses, or that has shown up at my house I have turned down. I'm pretty proud of that, once I realized it, because Lord knows temptation lurks pretty much everywhere (including my own kitchen pantry)!

Have a good one, everybody -

          Hi everyone,

Since I have over 100 pounds to lose I think I'm in the right place.
I really need to start exercising. I have some physical limitations: bad knee and hip as well as my back. I'm hoping to be able to do more as the weight comes off.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and look forward to getting acquainted with you all!

Re: CC Roll Call ~ Sun, Nov 15-09

              Hey LCC, welcome to you!

Night owl here, 1:45am my time but I just finished my pushups for the day and was about to post them when I saw your note.

Exercise has gotten easier for me as I have lost weight as my knees aren't as achy and my back pain has gone down tremendously (not to mention my huffing and puffing during said exercises).

You might start thinking about what sort of exercise you might enjoy, and also what sorts might be particularly good for your physical issues regardless of whether you might enjoy them or not, LOL! I do some of each kind, or at least I try to. Not doing too good on my walking this month thus far, but doing great on the pushups which I love and the squats which I don't really hate, and the ab crunches which I despise but I am hoping will help my back over time (only doing a small number twice a week to minimize any back problems or pain from doing them). There are a lot of sports which I enjoy but don't have a lot of time for at the moment - will be taking those up again one of these days as I don't really NEED motivation to do that kind of exercise, which is a big bonus.

Consider all types of exercise - you never know what you might really like. Yoga, tai chi, workout videos, wii fit video games, walking outside, dance classes or just dancing to songs on the radio, bicycling, karate lessons, skating, swimming, old fashioned calisthenics like we did in elementary school... the possibilities are almost endless. Even if you need to start with very tiny amounts, 5 minutes at a time or walking only a block or so to begin with, everyone has to start somewhere and it gets a little easier all the time and will build up more quickly than you might think. Don't kill yourself to start with, ease into it the first few weeks. Then add to it as you are able.

Ask questions here if you have any and check in and say hi regularly!
